I am immensely proud to support our gay officers and staff and I hope that this event sends out a clear message as we continue to strive for inclusivity and equality."

In August 2006, the two employees filed charges with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission about alleged discriminatory practices dating back to 2003. According to those charges, management within the company not only refused to address the inappropriate behavior, but eventually retaliated against the employees for having complained. 'When these two reported to their immediate supervisor about actions not in keeping with the employee manual, what happened? They got squashed. They got demoted and eventually terminated,' Renne said."

The move was approved by an overwhelming voice vote during a congregational meeting last weekend. Head pastor Rev. John Tamilio III calls it a civil-rights protest."

  4. I'm gonna wager that there's better online Harry Potter fan art than what's hanging at Sardi's right now.

  5. Actually that guy Shay looks like Daniel Radcliffe, which makes this a very circular discussion. Maybe Sardis should try its hand at drawing Shay.

  6. what's with the NYTimes article calling Obama MR.Obama? instead of PRESIDENT Obama? Is that intentional?

  7. 1. That San Diego rag should stay out of Portland politics. We've got our gay progressive Mayor and we're keeping him, not throwing him away so that a bunch of nosy whiners and hypocrites and prudes can feel better.

    2. Getting fertility treatments when a woman obviously has NO trouble popping out tons of kids should be illegal. Save it for the people who truly are having trouble reproducing. That sow should have at least six of her litter taken away and given to childless couples, and then she should be sterilized.
