Miss USA: 'Biblical Correctness' Trumps 'Political Correctness'

Prejean

This is the last Miss USA post I'll be doing unless something drastic happens to add something to the conversation, because I think it's run its course and there's no real reason to elevate this person. Matt Lauer talked to Perez and Prejean at greater length this morning on the Today show.

Lauer wonders why Perez didn't ask her about world peace, puppies, or kittens. Carrie Prejean says she wouldn't have answered the question any differently were she given a second chance, because "it's not about being politically correct, for me, it's about being Biblically correct."

Prejean also made the rounds to MSNBC in the 9am hour where she told Tamron Hall: "I can only say to him that I will be praying for [Perez Hilton]. I feel sorry for him, I really do. I think he's angry, I think he's hurt. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. He asked me specifically what my opinion was on that subject and I gave him an honest answer."

  2. LOL....OMG, the right-wing kooks are turning her into a frickin' hero. The idiot California gal is bigger than Miss USA. It won't last though...unless she runs for governor of Alaska.

  3. Matt Lauer's piece was completely fawning. He was dazzled by her and wanted to eat her up with a spoon.

What an ego she has! Maybe she lost because she wasn't good enough. The Today show edited out the first part of her answer which was incoherent. The purpose of the question is to test how well the contestants think on their feet. She babbled about "opposite marriage" and failed that test. Miss North Carolina was just a better candidate. That doesn't fit Carrie's Christian martyr self-image, but I believe that's the way it is.

  4. Maybe the loons at NOM can edit her into their storm clouds ad: "Gay Marriage took my tiara!"

  5. I'm praying for toothy. With those front teeth nobody is going to like kissing her- keep her away from your penis!

  6. "Biblically correct?"

This dumb whore needs to learn some ancient Hebrew, Koine Greek, and Aramaic before she hits the morning circuit talking about "Biblical correctness."

And while she's doing that, throw in some Coptic.

    Goodness!

  7. wow, she is not helping her situation at all.

Posted by: liz templin | Apr 21, 2009 11:31:42 AM

  8. I have to say, I didnt like what she said but she is entitled to her own opinion. He asked for her opinion and she gave it.

    Posted by: will | Apr 21, 2009 11:37:48 AM

  9. This isn't done yet? Big deal, she's a fundamentalist Christian and she has her opinion and is welcome to it. The fact is she lost the competition because she did not answer her question well. She didn't lose because of what she said, she lost because she didn't articulate her position well. She needs to stop blaming Perez Hilton, gays, or whoever else she'll undoubtedly trot out for the press and look at working on her poise and delivery.

I couldn't agree with you more, Andy, this dumb "news item" has run it's course and you should dedicate your web space to more pertinent stories.

  10. Biblical Correctness is far more medieval than that tart can handle. I hope her father can get a good price for her when he sells her to Michael Phelps.

  11. It is best that this particular controversy disappear from the news cycle as soon as possible. This is the type of story that incites a huge backlash against us. Perez Hilton comes across as a pushy jerk, and he threatens to taint gay marriage supporters by association. This is the type of moment that can be used by anti-gay forces in commercials. Remember how showboating Gavin Newsome's words were used to pass Prop 8? We don't need anymore fuel to the fire that gay marriage will silence peoples' right to practice or express their faith as they want. The truth is that if this comes down to a showdown between gay marriage and people's religion, religion will win everytime everywhere. We need to affirm her right to say it but gently and respectfully yet firmly challenge her opinion on the legal right to marry.

  12. I could not possibly give a shit what she thinks about anything. That said her "If I had not gotten that question, I would have won" approach is irrelevant. She did get the question she did not win. Miss NC did win. Next story PLEASE.

  13. someone should pray for perez, but it has nothing to do with him being gay.

    Posted by: Kevin | Apr 21, 2009 11:47:15 AM

  14. Let's put things in perspective here.

First, Anita Bryant went out on an all-out campaign against gays and tried to get them fired from their jobs.

Miss California is not organizing against the gays. She was asked a question and has a different viewpoint from you, as do millions. Deal with it.

If he did not want an honest answer, he should not have asked it.

Furthermore, having a foul-mouthed gay clown lash out at her and call her vile names only fuels the real bigots. NOT THE KIND OF REACTION YOU WANT TO GIVE TO CHANGE MINDS.

  15. She is a nightmare. My only hope is that every gay who has anything to do with her hair, makeup, and style leaves her high and dry.

That said, I really need Perez to try and be a bit more eloquent. I think he is relishing in his own moment so much that he has overlooked the larger fight.

  16. So she believes in “Biblical correctness” like in supporting slavery. The Bible isn’t correct about anything. The Bible is a lie just as the god of the Bible is a lie. She worships a false god that she is using to deny people equal rights.

As Thomas Paine said in The Age of Reason,
“The Bible: a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind.”

  17. Biblical correctness??! Yes, I feel sure that Jesus is applauding her for making a spectacle of herself on an issue that he didn't find important enough to even ONCE mention.

...and I'm sure he's beaming with pride over her prancing around in her bikini for everyone to ogle her goodies. I'm sure her heavenly reward is just waiting for her.

    Posted by: Jon | Apr 21, 2009 11:56:38 AM

  18. yawn... so we talk about her until she gets the new slot on a morning talk show?!?... 2 ick factors to lament here.

We've somehow made relevant a beauty pageant and its exact opposite: Perez Hilton.

    Posted by: Ed2 | Apr 21, 2009 12:06:54 PM

  19. I think she is going to be the new Anita Bryant and a martyr for the right wing. Just wait, we will see her speaking at rallies and prayer meetings. Perez's infantile reaction and especially his use of profanity is only helping her.

    Posted by: Chris | Apr 21, 2009 12:07:54 PM

  20. WOW. Hilton, Lauer and Prejean. A douche bag trifecta. Enough of these losers ANDY.

Posted by: patrick nyc | Apr 21, 2009 12:09:20 PM

  21. "I want someone who is politically savvy"? Is Perez nuts?!? She's running for Miss USA, not PotUS! He's helping to make her into a martyr.

We need to hold our leaders as accountable as Perez and Co and holding some chick who ran for Miss USA. That's what we should be more concerned with.

    Posted by: DR | Apr 21, 2009 12:10:35 PM

  22. Although I agree that she did not give the smartest answer, I think Perez is not doing the LGBT community any favors by throwing a tantrum about her response. It makes him, and our side, look childish. And definitely the name-calling is just plain dumb.

    Posted by: anon | Apr 21, 2009 12:13:15 PM

  23. This bimbette is just trying to get herself press time because she lost the pageant and still wants to be famous. More power to her, I suppose, but someone needs to remind her that (a) beauty pageants are archaic and little followed and (b) news cycles run short.

    Posted by: Marty | Apr 21, 2009 12:16:20 PM

  24. The point of the question and answer is to see whether the contestant can show poise and intelligence. Regardless of the content of her answer, it lacked intelligence. Why did she believe it and say it? It lacked depth.

If she could give a deeper response, I may respect her more but she did not. It was the same old elevator pitch.

I she were smarter should have been both PC and BC and would have deflected the question and not piss everyone off.

  25. if this bitch wants to go there, then lets go there.

"Biblically correct", this bitch could have been stoned to death for whoring herself almost naked for the whole to see.

go try that shit in a sharia nation.
