  4. I laughed at this youtube comment:

"In Soviet Russia, bus misses you!"

  5. I hope he has a change of underwear.

  6. LMFAO@WES! That is a particularly awesome comment

  7. OMG! Yikes! And he wasn't even texting while crossing the cross walk like so many people do here in Boston (sadly.)

  8. I just watched that clip about 10 times and I still can't believe how lucky that guy was! Dayuum!

  11. Good thing he was paying attention. So many people in NYC don't, and expect that the cars are going to stop because, "hey, they have to. I'm a pedestrian so they'll stop for me."

  12. @That Burning Sensation:

That's the case in CA. Peds ALWAYS have the right of way, wherever they decide to cross. Crosswalks are merely a suggestion of where it may be safe to cross.

I'm sure that fact (he had the right-of-way) will be comforting to the survivors trying to pick his bits and pieces out of the grill of that bus.

  13. Ugh, wish we could edit comments here.

Was referring to the guys who have the right of way and can't be bothered to exercise even the lamest safety measures - like being aware of what's happening around you.

NOT referring to the guy in the vid, who clearly was aware!!

  14. Welcome to Perm', Russia!
You do have to watch for the traffic in Russia. I have a friend who was hit by a car _on the sidewalk_!

  16. Another drunk Russian bus driver makes his move!

  17. The only place that I've ever had cars stop for me in a crosswalk was in Maine. Here in Chicago they tried to make drivers aware that the pedestrian has the right-of-way. Didn't work.

  18. This comment nailed it on the head for me:

"If the guy had been WALKING, he'd be killed. But since he was running, he was okay. Insane."

    Posted by: Billy | Oct 19, 2009 8:13:52 PM

  19. Never a boring moment in Russia!

  20. Holy crap! Here in Seattle, they ticket you for jay walking (not that the guy in the video was doing that, as far as I could tell). Also, here in Seattle, there'd have been about 10 people following that guy and getting taken out by the bus/car because they were just being mindless sheep and following the guy. Er, hint: Jay walking is a singles sport, not a group activity.

  21. um... am i the only one who realizes that the video is a fake? it's two videos superimposed on top of one another.

    Posted by: DN | Oct 19, 2009 9:37:52 PM

  22. Yeah, definitely faked -- you can see at the end that it doesn't quite match up.

  23. Wish I could show that vid to all the idiots in SF that get halfway into the intersection before they decide to look up from their cell phones to see if there is a car coming....and then give you a dirty look.

  24. Where the heck was that bus driver going?

    Posted by: NYSmike | Oct 19, 2009 11:47:50 PM

  25. You can see the pedestrian slide sideways in his run; it's fake.
