Stephen Colbert's Gay History Lesson: VIDEO
Stephen Colbert last night issued a warning about California's new LGBT History bill for its schools.
Says Colbert: "Bringing gay history in our classrooms teaches our children a dangerous lesson - that gay people exist."
Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

Brilliant. Was having flashbacks to Strangers with Candy with that bit. The fake school house of bad information is where SC thrives!

the Mayor of Castro Street is a must read for everyone

"The Mayor of Castro Street" actually made me uncomfortable. The first chapter discussed Harvey Milk as an underage teen sneaking into XXX theaters in Times Square where he would have sex with adult men. It made it seem like every adult gay male was looking to have sex with teens.

Peterparker - wrong message. It actually made it seem like many gay teenagers are willing to have sex with adult men. And, in the absence of prospective same-age partners, that could be true. For me, I had the great good fortune, back in 1978, to get involved in a gay youth support group. Being able to socialize (non-sexually) with guys my own age made chasing grownup men much less interesting.
Just my own experience, of course; YMMV.

Very very funny love the bit with Washington on the pride float! ( so are we suppose to sensor gay history as far a teen sexual experience is concerned?!)

I was in "The Importance of being Earnest" in 1981. Played Algernon 'Algy' Moncrieff, British accent and everything; needlessness to say; I was flawless. ☺

I grew up in a small town in West Virginia from 1950's to 1970's. By high school I had read many gay authors on my own. I survived the constant bullying. My first sexual encounter was with a boy younger than I. It was an expression of love. Later in the larger world I learned in the gay community that many, so called lovers, had open relationships. Their sexual encounters outside of that relationship were OK, no love required. Sad not Gay.
