Tom Hardy: I've Never Had Sex with a Man, 'Doesn't Do It For Me'

Hardy

Warrior star Tom Hardy graphically denies the gay rumors, but would rather they exist than nobody talks about him.

From an interview in UK Marie Claire:

This much candour makes you wonder whether Hardy ever regrets being, well, quite frank. 'I don't regret anything I've ever said It's just a shame things are misconstrued and I don't get the opportunity to explain.' Not even the time he said he'd enjoyed relationships with men in his twenties?

'I have never put my p-nis in a man,' is Hardy's characteristically direct response. 'Ive never had a c--k in my arse, and I have no f--king desire for it. If that's what you like, cool. But it doesn't do it for me.' He's irritated his words were taken out of context but concedes, 'one thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about'.

Discussion of Hardy's sexual past sprang to life last summer when the actor, then starring in Inception, was quoted by the Daily Mail:

"The 32-year-old Inception star, who is engaged to British actress Charlotte Riley, 28, and also has a two-year-old son with a former girlfriend.  But asked if he'd ever had any sexual relations with other men, the broody actor said: 'As a boy? Of course I have. I'm an actor for ****'s sake. 'I've played with everything and everyone. I love the form and the physicality, but now that I'm in my thirties, it doesn't do it for me. I'm done experimenting but there's plenty of stuff in a relationship with another man, especially gay men, that I need in my life. A lot of gay men get my thing for shoes. I have definite feminine qualities and a lot of gay men are incredibly masculine.'"

  1. Seems he's talking about anal sex...so BJ's still may have happen, as well as the teenage circle jerk!

  4. Personally I've never found the man that appealing. There are far more male celebrities who are sexier and literally handsome.

  5. Why is Marie Claire, a woman's magazine, enabling denials like those of Tom Hardy? Women's magazines need to butt out of male sexuality. Women are envious of male-male sexuality and it shows in how they attempt to denigrate us. A lot of homophobia - particularly towards men - is driven by women.

  6. how is that a sexy pose?

Give me a man just being himself...not contrived .......and just simply smiling

In other words, if your posing then you are not being sexy. sexy just is

  7. Blah, who cares. If he did explore his sexuality then good for him. If he is backpeddling so that he is cast as alpha-male action star then forget him.

  8. There's more in what he didn't say in the denial than what he did. It sounded like publicist-speak to me.

  9. So, no anal sex, got it but those lips were made for BJ's : )

  10. SAYWHAT, I think the point in choosing this picture was to play up on the gay rumors -- as well as the fact that he didn't really clarify anything other than denying anal sex with men -- by picking a picture that seems rather "gay." Also, it's if "you're" posing, not if "your" posing. The "you're" that you need is the contraction for the same "you are" that you follow with in your conditional (if/then) sentence. (Notice my use of "your," which is the possessive pronoun, showing that the conditional sentence I'm referring to belongs to you.)

  12. Doesm't do it for him! WHAT!? I had our wedding and everything planned out. I want him so bad.

  13. I guess it all depends on what your definition of "in" is. His denial does not preclude frottage or manual manipulation or kissing.

  14. He's obviously reacting to the misconception (you should pardon the pun) that gay sex = anal sex and the myth that gay anal sex = lack of masculinity (when what could possibly be more masculine?).

All his quote clarifies is that he's never had gay anal sex. That's it. Anal sex requires more space and time than oral or manual sex, is more intimate, and is riskier. It's off the menu for a whole lot of queer men -- both in and out of relationships -- but it doesn't make them any less queer. Or, in Hardy's case, any less open.

And, seriously, Tom, nobody sane is doubting your masculinity, anyway.

  15. Either way, he's majorly hot.

  16. The only thing more embarrassing than gay men's obsession with the supposed gayness of actors is the point at which they are forced to deny it.

  18. Who cares! He's just another water-retaining macho pinhead looking for publicity.Just look at how many homos are making stupid comments about his "hotness".There are better looking guys out there, ones who have brains and show humility and tact on many things. And no,you will NOT find them on grindr.

  19. That pose with the swollen, botox-stung lips is a perfect mimic of the trying-too-hard pose Michael Lucas affects in every one of his pics.

  20. It's also funny to me that he paraphrases an Oscar Wilde quote in his denial of gay experience.

  21. Why do people think that Botox is responsible for puffy lips? Botox does lots of things from smoothing out wrinkles in the forehead to reducing sweat production in armpits/feet/hands to correcting a lazy eye. But it is not used to increase lip volume. That's a job for a filler like Juvederm, Radiesse or Restylane.

  22. The denial speaks volumes. He's never done it for me, either way.

@Jason It doesn't matter where he issued the denial and your misogyny doesn't do anything to help/serve the conversation.

  23. Thumbs up Rocky. If anything, Hardy is using the gay community to further his career. Are we not talking about him today on the largest gay news website? Duh...

  25. Ok, I have no problem with this pretty man being straight. I want to point at this, however: "... there's plenty of stuff in a relationship with another man, especially gay men, that I need in my life."

Coming from a time when it was taboo for any straight man to admit even having a gay friend, when gays were supposed to be invisible and unacknowledged, I find Mr. Hardy's comment a wonderful statement of a broader kind of manliness and an indication of our development as a society.
