Pastor John Hagee Claims Paganism 'Fills the Mental Hospitals and Singles Bars': VIDEO
For the love of God, someone get this guy on a morphine drip.
"We are in a moral free-fall," proclaimed gassed-up Texas preacher John Hagee recently, his jowels expanding and contracting, well, like bowels. "Your children can be taught witchcraft by Harry Potter. That Heather has two mommys." Secular humanism, he says, has filled everything from drug rehab centers to battered-wife shelters and the "roster-guest of the brain-dead television shows you see from New York."
"Think about that," he urges. OK, I'm thinking about it - and I've concluded that he means "guest-roster."
Naturally, Hagee participated in Rick Perry's "pray-for-rain" rally and compared him with Abraham Lincoln. He also thinks that homosexuals brought on Katrina and that Iran should be pre-emptively nuked. So I'm glad he's in a position of power.
Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

I apologize on be half of the Roman Empire because we lacked enough hungry lions to solve this problem preemptively.

Yeah, paganism is why a Christian pastor went into a church today in Lakeland and shot 2 other pastors at his oldd church. NOT!

It should be noted that TODAY was gay pride in Dallas, and we had perfect weather. Tonight we finally got thunderstorms and LOTS of rain.
It wasn't Rick Perry's Christian bigot festival, it was the gays that brought it!
John Hagee is a certified lunatic.
Harry Potter? Really?
Was he blaming Scooby Doo back in the 70's?

This post is borderline incomprehensible.

Diogenes, I think I love you.

As a nurse who works in a mental hospital, I can assure you that the biggest psychotic delusions I see are Christian based. I have taken care of multiple people who think they are Jesus or an Angel...trust...I have yet to see a grandiose manic Atheist yet!

This guy's name rings a bell... didn't he make the news back in 2008 or thereabouts for something stupid he said? IIRC, it was early to mid 2008.

Ah ha! I remember now. A big scandal.
John Hagee cheated on his wife and got caught taking... shall we say... a "generous" salary from his church.

Evil or nuts... and I lean toward thinking he's evil.

Since someone took the time to whine about Penn's posting style, I just thought I'd say I appreciate the slight edge and humor he brings. Why can't we enjoy both he and Andy for their differences?

I am a psychotherapist living in Tennessee. I can assure this "preacher" that protestant fundamentalism sends more people to mental health treatment than anything else. How many times have I heard the sons and daughters of fundamentalist describe how their pious deacon pastor or evangelist father did unspeakable things to them behind closed bedroom doors.

This fat windbag again? I caught my dad watching his broadcast one day when I was visiting home (my dad is a Christian, but not of the bigoted variety, as he thinks God created us gays in his image as well) and just about hit the ceiling. After a hasty snatching of the remote and a few sharp words exhanged, I explained the reason why this vile man need not be allowed in their house.
Needless to say, my father added Mr Hagee to his "do not watch" list, alongside American Idol, Friends reruns, and Fox News.

AND...to all the prior mentioned whiny queens whom fancy themselves literary critics...I LOVE Penn's writing style. Its biting, non apologetic, and very much on point for the mood we should all have on these various topics.
Thanks so much for your hard work Penn, and as always, Andy.

Another demented hypocritical Christian-Fascist. And no, not all Christians belong to the ChrisTaliban. This drongo does, that's for sure.

Im assuming he is talking from a US perspective....well, the USA is 80%+ Christian, that would seem to point to Christianity as being the problem. Secular nations in Western Europe have far lower levels of crime, social breakdown, teen pregnancies, economic and social divide etc than the 80%+ USA. You need MORE atheist paganism (or whatever the hell that is).

...says the guy representing a religion that up to 100 years ago used to torture and burn people to the stake.

The more they pray for rain, the drier it gets. Could it be a sign from God?
Posted by: Dave | Sep 19, 2011 6:46:04 AM
He's right you know. Secular humanists have filled the battered women's shelters and rehab clinics. If it were up to the fundies, men could beat their wives and women couldn't leave them and we'd pray for addicts and not actually do anything to help them. He's a moron. Those places save people from harm. Many of those women are married to fundamentalists and many people in rehab have tried praying the addiction away to no avail.
