NEWS: George Walks, TED Talks, Scott Lively Freaks Out, And Goodbye Ernest Borgnine

Towleroad-roadicon Ernest Borgnine has died.

Towleroad-roadicon Scott Lively pleads with a Missouri city to get serious about the rainbow menace:

Framed as an “anti-discrimination” measure it is in reality a “Gay Fascism” Bill that will make disapproval of homosexuality illegal in the City of Springfield and grant gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgenders (GLBTs) legal standing to sue their opponents, primarily Christians.

Starting in the 1980s in cities like San Francisco, homosexuals have forced many U.S. cities and numerous states to adopt similar “Gay Fascism” laws with disastrous effects on Christian landlords and businesses. Empowered by recent successes, they are now pushing into conservative cities.

... in a strategic political sense ... an “anti-discrimination policy” based on “sexual orientation” is the seed that contains the entire homosexual agenda with all of its poisonous fruit, including “gay” marriage, “gay” adoption, and heavy taxpayer funding of “gay” programs and projects. Wherever the seed takes root, “gay” power and control just keeps growing until it supplants traditional family values with San Francisco-style sexual anarchy in every social and political sphere.

Towleroad-roadicon On the cheap thrill of looking at other people's mug shots:

A mug shot doesn’t simply provide information, it lures us into a drama in which we are given an intimate, Leviathan’s-eye view of the state asserting dominance over an individual. In the old days, this spectacle took place live, on the scaffold of the pillory. Today, it happens in the creation and online circulation of the mug shot. In the faces of these photographic subjects we behold an alarming look of knowledge without consent, and the formal elements associated with this type of portrait—the rigid, head-on stare, the non-professional lighting and institutional accouterment—are charged with the candid photo’s shock of spontaneous revelation.

... a bullet-shaped entry way leads through to the Gold Room, which features a life-sized recreation of character Jill Masterson's death by gold paint from the 1964 film "Goldfinger."

"Shirley Eaton's golden body is one of the most iconic Bond images, and we went to great lengths to cast a form -- not just a mannequin -- to painstakingly make a body that resembled her nubile proportions from Goldfinger ... "

  1. Re: Ernest Borgnine - it's sad he passed, but perhaps sadder that his impressive legacy in film will be forever tainted by his dumb, homophobic remarks about refusing to watch Brokeback Mountain.

Re: Rick Perry and gays having something in common. According to rumour, that something is sucking cock.

  2. Ernest Borgnine talks about masturbation:

  3. Really, that's all you have to say about Ernest Borgnine? WTF happened to the quality of this site?

Considering how much Andy worshiped Brokeback Mountain, I'm sure he would have had something to say about Borgnine (and his ilk) being responsible for Brokeback's loss at the Oscars to Crash.

  4. Towleroad is merely following the example set by Ethel Merman. In her biography, in dealing with her 32-day marriage to Borgnine, Merman left a blank page.
Quite clearly, the editors here are Ethel Merman and the blog is the blank page upon which the rest of us can write our own recollections of Borgnine...

  5. My opinions of Borgnine (and Tony Curtis) are forever colored by his blatant homophobia and ignorance. Was he ever nominated for another Oscar besides "Marty"? He seemed very much like a character actor who got incredibly lucky once (he beat frigging JAMES DEAN for the Oscar), and then somehow rode that train for the next 50+ years. Now all I can say is, goodbye and good riddance to him and his ilk.

  6. The guy was once married to Ethel Merman...that says it all.

  7. I don't want to write on the edited, censored Huffington Post. Just wanted to say leave Brad Pitt's mother alone. People have the right to their opinions. Someone responding to her on the Post is like some unwanted person banging on your front door on a Sunday morning to sell their beliefs. Your tactics are becoming Scientology like or worse Nazi like. More people than you realize agree with Mrs. Pitt. You'll find that out. Now F-off! Let people believe what they want. Stop selling them your Freak-quality.

  8. I feel the same way about Borgnine and Tony Curtis, dback. It was especially shameful about Curtis considering his participation in The Celluloid Closet.

  9. Am I going crazy, or was there a posting earlier today on Towleroad about rabbis sucking the blood of newly circumcised penises? Seriously, I cannot find it, and I think I am going crazy.

    Posted by: bravo | Jul 8, 2012 10:42:58 PM

  10. @ Bravo

You aren't going crazy. It must have been removed. If you google you can find a cached copy.

  11. Wouldn't it be nice if, when a post and all the moments get deleted, an explanation were provided?

    Posted by: TJ | Jul 8, 2012 11:43:33 PM

  12. Yah, an explanation dumbkoff. Give one. Or is that taxing sleepy head Thorp too much.

  13. "... rabbis sucking the blood of newly circumcised penises ..." Oh yes, that is true, it is in the Talmud which is the Jewish. It is to stop the bleeding and if the rabbi refuses he will be "put out". Circumcision is a sick and primitive practice of the ignorant and superstitious.

  14. Old Ernest was responsible for Brokeback Mountain losing to Crash? What a riot. And here I was thinking it was the massive studio advantage with Harvey Weinstein having about a thousand voters under his wing for every dozen the Brokeback film probably had.

Go YouTube the Crash win announcement by Jack Nicholson and you'll see about 150 people leap to their feet in the audience, most about 30 year old. But you burn in hell, Ernest. LOL.

  15. Crash had about 100 people in the cast and after Sandra Bullock and Matt Dillon and Ryan Phillippe and a multitude of others voted for their movie and the Oscars got the backlash, everybody blames it on "Ernest Borgnine and his ilk"? What a scam. But not unexpected.

  16. What happened to the rabbis sucking on infant penises story? I've never seen a story on TR taken down like this before. Anybody know what's going on? Copy-write infringement? Complaints from advertisers or special interests? This is BS. You can say on here anything you want about Christians of every denomination, Baptists, Muslims, 'Whites' [i.e. Europeans or European descent], blacks, Hispanics, Asians, fem guys, butch guys, bisexuals, capitalists, socialists, commies, politicians you dislike, the Pope, the French, the British, you name it, nothing is too outlandish or even over the top. I'm not bothered by this even though some of the hate or criticism is targeted at someone like me. Why is this story so sensitive?

  17. What happened to the rabbi post?

  18. Re: the circumcision post. I wasn't aware until the wee hours of the morning that it had gone missing, and waited for an explanation before re-posting. Turns out, there was a technical issue with one of Towleroad's ad networks that needed to get ironed out. Said issue is now ironed, and the post is back up.
