Anne Hathaway Donating Money from Wedding Photos to Battle for Marriage Equality

Anne Hathaway doesn't plan to profit from sales of her wedding photos, Freedom to Marry reports:

Now, Hathaway is doing her part to ensure that same-sex couples across the country can enjoy a fairytale wedding like hers; this week, she announced that she'll be donating some of the sales from her wedding photographs to non-profits advocating for marriage for same-sex couples, including Freedom to Marry. Reports also indicate that she'll be splitting the profits between groups like the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and The Girl Effect.

  1. Have always liked her, she's beautiful inside out!

  2. A classic act!

Don't understand why some people don't like her

  3. FINALLY she actually does something for us. She's been saying for years how she has a gay brother and supports us but she has not done a thing for us - she didn't even speak about gay rights during interviews for Brokeback Mountain.

This woman has wasted so many opportunities to support us. All she does is think about herself and her own career. Even this money is not coming from her own pocket ! Yet another straight person who claims to support us because she likes our money but doesn't actually do anything for us.

  5. Definitely a clas act and thanks for her support. On a side note, I don't want a "fairy" tale wedding, I want a guy's wedding.

  6. @Kyle: Did you mean people or creatures like, Jason.

  7. ignore the haters and the lies they have to make up about this remarkable young woman.

the bitterness? that she's doing more for "us" that their own families ever have, or ever will.

Miss Hathaway has been an outspoken supporter of our communities for years.

and this winter she's going to win an Academy Award. She'll sing and she'll die = OSCAR.

  8. @R: Leave Icebloo alone! He's just another Jason or may be Rick or may be these three are the same person....only God knows!

  9. Did JasonRick finally get banned? I haven't seen his insane ramblings in a few days... this post should have been catnip for him!

  10. Gee ICEBLOO you act as if she owes you something! What exactly have you done for the community besides spreading your foul, grumpy personality all over this site?

I'm surprised you aren't faulting her for not giving ALL the money to marriage equality and instead splitting it amongst her other charities.

There is always one ungrateful, whiner in the bunch!

  11. I love Anne so much. She's a fierce advocate for the gay community.

I can't wait to see her in the new movie.

  12. I'm not much of a celebrity worshipper. But I think she may be the most beautiful woman in Hollywood.

  13. I love this woman more and more all the time. Can't wait for Les Mis!!!

  14. Count me among Annie's big fans...

She's terrific and always raises her voice on our behalf.

ps: kinda can't wait to see the pics- maybe T-road will get one of her brother for us. ;)

  15. Now THIS is someone who sincerely cares about gay rights and puts their money where their mouth is. Yet dumb gays want to call trash like Britney Spears or Katy Perry gay icons, yet they don't do shyt for gay rights or donate any of their money to gay organizations.

People need to start realizing who the REAL supporters of us are.

  16. Stupid

  17. I think donating to cancer research is far more important than gays getting hitched. It's a shallow ass world we live in.

  18. I think it was a nice thing she did. I'm sure she has a large donating package between several. Have to be able to write something off. Good for her.

  20. Love her. This is her year. She was the best thing about Dark Knight Rises & hoping Les Mis lives up to the hype. Classy & talented & a great ally.

  21. If you donate money from proceeds that you would have otherwise kept, then yes, it is coming from your own pocket (idiot)

    Posted by: MaddM@ | Oct 21, 2012 11:30:09 AM

  22. Bitter Icebloo writes: "Even this money is not coming from her own pocket !"

Ummm...she could have kept's not like she HAD to donate any of it at all!! What's the difference if she kept it and made a donation regardless as it all comes from the same pot. Who cares? This way she did some good by donating the money from a publication to do some good. Win = win.

    Bitter, bitter person.
