Out Lesbian Player Brittney Griner Breaks WNBA Dunks Record in Her First Game: VIDEO

Griner

Brittney Griner, the top WNBA draft pick who came out of the closet in April, broke the WNBA's dunks record in her first game, NBC Sports reports:

The biggest name to hit the WNBA in years didn’t disappoint in her first game — she became the first WNBA player ever to dunk twice in one game (she is only third player in the league ever to dunk). Griner had 17 points and 3 rebounds in her debut.

Griner's team, the Phoenix Mercury, lost 102-80 to the Chicago Sky.

  1. Brittney is a great player and I'm glad she's on the Mercury's roster. Hopefully they'll play better as the season continues.

  3. But Elena Delle Donne had a better game overall.

I know, Griner is my girl, but a dunk is still only worth two points.

  4. She's got game.

Sometimes it's dirty game though. In the video clip, you can see her check another girl off her (that's a fowl). Also, in college, she punched a girl in the face. Sounds like she belongs in the NBA to me!

  5. @Josh:

I think D was still in Russia until way late in the pre-season. With the addition of Griner, there's still some work needed to get everyone in sync, because Griner will change the rover defense that Phoenix had been running with D in the middle. They'll probably get it together in a couple of weeks.

  8. @sean
What type of "fowl" would that constitute? A chicken, duck, or a pea fowl?
