Nevada Teen Offers Angry, Tearful, Loving Testimony on Why His Two Gay Moms Deserve Equality: VIDEO

Riley_roberts

18-year-old Riley Roberts delivered an emotional, compelling speech before the Nevada Assembly yesterday before it voted 27-14 to pass a resolution advancing efforts toward marriage equality in the state.

With, anger, love, and some tears, Roberts moved the room, and he will move you.

Says Roberts in the video.

“I was born in Nevada 18 years ago and guess who was there? My mom Pamela Roberts and Gretchen Miller, my loving parents. And who was there to watch me take my first steps? Pamela Roberts and Gretchen Miller. And who was there when I said my first words? My two loving parents. And who was there when I kicked my first soccer ball? My two loving parents. And who can I talk to when I need anything? My two loving parents. And who will be there to see me walk across the stage next month and receive my honors diploma? My two gay loving parents who have been together for 22 years."

Watch it, AFTER THE JUMP...

  9. If nothing else, lesbians moms are the most successful parents. I would adjust the law accordingly. :)

  16. a few gay kids of anti-gay parents were going to attend to give testimony of their own parent's abilities, but microphones are not yet able to pick up transmissions from beyond the grave.

  17. I'd like to ask Justices Roberts, Scalia, Alioto, and Thomas to watch this video, and wonder if they would then fail to see the impact their decision in June will have. How could they not find Riley Roberts' speech moving? It will be a shame and will set us back many years, if Prop H8 and DOMA are not struck down.

  18. Mateo: Being gay is different. Comments are different. Deal with it. Are you the comment police? Go find some other town to be the little old lady in.

  20. What some politicians don't realize is that kids growing up in same-sex households eventually become adults - and those adults will vote to protect their same-sex parents. The anti-equality faction may be the majority in some parts of the US now, but not for too long…

  21. Gary; Suck my clock, you blowhard ding-dong. You know nothing. Except hate.

  22. @Gary
Mateo is calling you out for your obviously pathetic attempt to downplay a heartfelt declaration of love and support by Riley for his two Moms.

You want your right to offer snide comments here upheld then uphold his to reply to them.

  23. You should move to Greenwich Village. You'd fit right in. Just because I don't swim for every baited hook, I get a verbal gay bashing? Why so threatened?

  24. What a great person!

  25. You liberals are the reason that I can't attend family gatherings, as my entire Klan still hopes to perform a retroactive abortion on me.
