British Man on Trial in Uganda Over Gay Sex Photos Passed to Tabloid from Stolen Laptop Has Case Postponed

In November we reported on a British and a Ugandan man facing a possible prison sentence in Uganda after a tabloid published photos of them having sex that were taken off a laptop stolen from the British man by burglars.

RandallThe case, which activists have been calling a "show trial", has now been adjourned for the third time, AFP reports:

Bernard Randall, 65, had pleaded not guilty at his initial hearing in October to the charges, saying the laptop on which the images were found was stolen before being passed on to a Ugandan tabloid newspaper. Randall was back in court on Monday, but the case was adjourned for a third time.

"It has been postponed to January 22 because neither the file nor the prosecutor are here," he told AFP, adding he was happy over the delay because the alleged laptop thieves were due to go on trial first. "If they are found guilty then it means that what I said is true, they robbed me, so (there was) no trafficking on my part," he said.

  1. Why did this fool photograph himself engaging in illegal behavior? I understand that most gay men now get a kick from posting their hideous sexual exploits on the internet for perverts to watch. It's this kind of risky behavior that makes gay men targets for the scorn of their fellow man (and especially woman), and makes them such a capable host for sexually transmitted diseases. Gay men need to wise up and keep their sex lives to themselves. The world is disgusted by this behavior and the backlash will only continue to get worse.

  2. Gotta agree with Rick. Slutty gay men deserve all the political and social backlash they get.

  5. I once stumbled across his Brian/Jason/Adam's Disqus page too. His misogyny and homophobia were glaringly obvious.

  6. Oooh thanks, Crispy. The man must be mentally ill if he's dedicated the entirety if his online presence to posting nasty misogynistic and homophobic comments.

  7. Considering that everybody now films and photographs themselves doing EVERYTHING, the first posts are ludicrous.

You might as well complain that people drive too much.

My, my. Someone is in an unusally bad mood today. What's the matter, hon. Bad weekend? Just sing along with me and Judy:

I'll go my way by myself, here's how the comedy ends

I'll have to deny myself love and laughter and friends....

  9. Having sex with a Ugandan? Why not just inject yourself with AIDS? Not to mention your reputation....

  10. Why did he make videos of them having sex? So yes, technically he WAS porn trafficking? As a result, if he is getting punished for that under that country's jurisdiction then, yes, he deserves it! We have to learn to respect other countries and their laws and cultures when we are in those countries, no matter how much we might disagree with them. Otherwise, stay the hell out of those countries and don't cry foul when you get caught with your pants down--literally in this case!

  11. How about the bigger question: if gay sex is so revolting to Ugandans, why were pictures of it published in the media? What was the tabloid hoping to achieve?

  12. The average IQ Uganda is slightly higher than Koko the gorilla.
