Dick Cheney Was 'Surprised' by Mary's Facebook Attack on Liz

Former VP Dick Cheney spoke (very) briefly with ABC News about his lesbian daughter Mary Cheney and her wife Heather Poe's Facebook attack on their other daughter Liz Cheney over her position on same-sex marriage:

Cheney“We were surprised that there was an attack launched against Liz on Facebook, and wished it hadn’t happened,” Cheney said at the National Press Club. “It’s always been dealt with within the context of the family and frankly that’s our preference.”

Today, Cheney said the incident is “obviously a difficult thing for a family,” but he declined to comment any further on the controversy or his position on gay marriage.

“That’s as far as I’m going to go on the subject,” Cheney told his interviewer. “Don’t waste your time.”

  3. I'd hardly call Mary calling her sister's homophobia out an "attack". Ugh.

  4. It sounds more like "I can't believe Mary didn't sit there like a good little lesbian and take the attack from your sister. I can't believe Mary had the nerve to stand up for herself, her wife, and her family."

  7. I've always found that man to be the spawn of Satan. Oh how he must struggle daily since his family life isn't picture perfect.

  8. It's funny that he does NOT seem surprised that Liz attacked the basic rights of Mary and Mary's family, but he instead classifies as an "attack" Mary's not even comparable statement that she's not volunteering or donating to Liz's campaign.

  9. Yeah, love that he calls Liz's belief that her sister is a second-class citizen whose human rights should be less than her own an attack on Liz. Mary was acceptable to the family only when was silent. Liz is allowed to speak her bigoted mind with impunity.
