New, Unaired Episodes of 'Duck Dynasty' Will Include Phil Robertson

Despite Phil Robertson's 'indefinite hiatus' from the A&E hit reality show Duck Dynasty following anti-gay remarks he made in a GQ interview, the network has no plans on removing him from unaired episodes that have already been filmed. Entertainment Weekly reports:

Phil RobertsonA source close to the situation confirmed that when the network resumes airing new episodes of Duck Dynasty starting Jan. 15, footage featuring the Robertson patriarch will indeed remain intact. The network also hopes the media and fan furor will cool down over the holidays and that tensions over shooting future episodes can then be resolved.

"There's no negotiations to have; we're doing the show," said an insider close to the situation. "We'll figure out a solution. It's just not going to happen overnight. Everybody will take a break for the holidays and regroup afterward. That's probably the smartest thing for everyone to do. Time heals a lot of wounds."

The Robertson family hasn't sounded as optimistic, with a source close to the Louisiana duck call clan telling E! "They're an extremely tight-knit family and they're not going to let this get in the way. [Phil] is the reason for their success - they're not going to abandon him. They're also not about to let anyone threaten their religious beliefs." A representative for the family could not be reached for comment.

  1. Can we all just move on...the guy is a bigot. I don't watch the show and don't intend to start. As Mayor Parker said - his views are complete irrelevant. What is wrong with the media - why do they constantly fixate on drivel.

  2. Agreed. Bigoted cafeteria Christians like Robertson, Palin, and Jindal are all sinners and will be denied the kingdom of God just like the people they denigrate. It's laughable that they think they aren't going to helll themselves. As the saying goes...."For every finger you point at me, three point back at you."

Except we know this isn't about Christianity. Or the Bible. This is a bigoted hater hiding behind the Bible to spew his hate.

  3. a&e really painted themselves into a corner. it'll be interesting to see if the ratings go up from the controversy or down from the xians' boycott.

  4. I assume A&E shows actually have editors and producers, and don't just shoot their shows at random. So why not come up with an episode that confronts this issue head-on and brings the Duck Dynasty klan (oops, I mean clan) face-to-face with some actual GLBT folks who are given equal time on that episode to talk about why Phil Robertson's comments are wrong?

If the bigots complain about them being given that equal time, then it sort of turns their whole "freedom-of-speech" whining on its head, doesn't it?

  6. @bobby joe. no, it doesn't. there's no obligation under the principle of free speech for that family to sit down with gay people to be told how wrong they are.

this whole effort by the pc left to try to forcibly reprogram people's regressive religious beliefs is monumentally stuid and will backfire. like with this story.

  7. there is no god so who cares what he thinks but their beliefs in the mythical threaten and belittle everyone outside their cultist belief system. Screw'em Reasonable people have to stand up to religious extremists or else fall to a version of christian based Sharia law. Look at this guy...if that's not christian taliban I don't know what is.

  8. @jaker

But wouldn't gays and African-Americans have as much right to talk on a reality show as Phil Robertson and his family? So if A&E said "we'll keep Phil, but we're also going to feature some gays and blacks on the show," then I'm betting the bigots sure would retreat from that whole "reality tv should allow people to say whatever they want" standpoint. It'd just be interesting to see how quickly they'd be revealed as hypocrites.

  9. Of course they're going to air them! It's called making money. A&E makes money from this dust up.
