Dustin Lance Black Delivers Commencement Address At Pasadena City College: Video

After being invited, un-invited, then re-invited, Dustin Lance Black finally delivered the commencement address for Pasadena City College this past Friday.

BlbThe Examiner describes his introduction by one of the graduates:

On Friday as the sun was setting on the completely filled stadium (with families and friends waiting outside), Lance walked with the Board of Trustees to the podium after being introduced by a student who called Lance his “hero,” Associated Students President Jordyn Orozco.

“I’m glad that he accepted the invite (again),” said Orozco, who presented the award-winner with a poster of “Milk” about gay activist Harvey Milk, which was signed by the students.

According to the LA Times, Black opened his speech up with a lighthearted introduction: "Hoo! I made it!"

  1. Too much "me," "I." Today's youth are more concerned about their me and I. It's probable that his current relationship will end, and then we can witness what comes out in the wash of media. Maybe a little emotion from him? Jews do not follow Jesus. Unfortunately for Lance, being gay is not a religion either.

  2. Bebout, are you really as bitter and jealous a you sound?

    Thank you, Dustin Lance Black!

  3. Much ado about nothing - I'm glad that Dustin showed at the College. People like him need to be heard. Good for him for showing up.

  4. He's a writer. That should have been a much better speech.

  5. I only kiss one black ass, and that would be Mr. Sams! Naw, just like playing with words. He gave a good pep talk. I'm much better live. Still eye candy too. Hey, Lance hasn't cornered the market on vanity!

  6. My metaphoric high school sophomore poetry, was passed around the teacher's lounge.

  7. It seems to me that all this controversy was positive after all. It may have paved the way for him to deliver a speech about being gay, growing up different, where it may not have had its place otherwise. And how many folks nation-wide tuned in who otherwise wouldn't have? Well done DLB! They gave you lemons, you made lemonade and shared it far and wide.

  8. Did he get any digits?

  9. Yeah, okay, that's great. Now on to news of much more importance... WAS BOYFRIEND THERE!?

  10. Cute, caucasian 19 year old English swimmers are passé. He'll need to find a handsome, sexy African American football draft, to rate English tabloid attention now.

  11. Oh for FFS, "hero" is an overstatement by the n-the degree. He's a screenwriter at the end of the day. Let's leave our larger admiration for those doing more than pushing their own branding.

  12. To me he's just creepy these days.

  13. I hope the teenagers at the college kept well away from this creepy sleazebag.

Tom Daley is 19 - he's almost too old for 40 year old Black - who along with his good friend and fellow party goer Bryan Singer likes them very young indeed.

And for a screenwriter he does not write a good speech.

  14. Bullying your way up to the podium is not victory. They probably got tired of his 'woe-is-me-cause-i'm-gay' false outrage.

  15. DLB is a middle aged man who met his current teenaged boyfriend at the Kids Choice Awards - strange party location for a 40 year old without kids.

  16. Thanks for comments policing relationships between consenting adults, Marym. It makes you sound bitter and lonely. Do you also post all over the Fox website with your outrage about the age difference between Newt Gingrich and his wife?

  17. Dustin Lance Black's next impressive honor: A Lifetime Achievement Award from NAMBLA. Bryan Singer is sooo jealous!

  18. MaryM - actually, they didn't meet at the Kids Choice Awards. DLB was on an LGBT campaign in Washington DC at the time, he can't be in two places at once!

Jealousy is a really unattractive trait in people, as evidenced by the bitter comments on here!

  19. I hope Dustin reminded all of these young, impressionable students to practice safe sex. Especially when you make a sex tape.
