Neil Patrick Harris’s Upcoming Memoir Is a ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’

For those of us bored with the regular old autobiography, Neil Patrick Harris is here to inject a sense of danger and discovery into the genre’s format with the upcoming Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography.

Nph bookThe book's summary reads::

In this revolutionary, Joycean experiment in light celebrity narrative, actor/personality/carbon-based life-form Neil Patrick Harris lets you, the reader, live his life. You will be born in New Mexico. You will get your big break at an acting camp. You will get into a bizarre confrontation outside a nightclub with actor Scott Caan. Even better, at each critical juncture of your life you will choose how to proceed. You will decide whether to try out for Doogie Howser, M.D. You will decide whether to spend years struggling with your sexuality. You will decide what kind of caviar you want to eat on board Elton John’s yacht. Choose correctly and you’ll find fame, fortune, and true love. Choose incorrectly and you’ll find misery, heartbreak, and a guest stint on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.

Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography goes on sale October 14, 2014 and is available for pre-order.

  1. I've reached NPH overload. He needs to take a sabbatical and do something serious. He's becoming Liza Minelli -- no offstage reality.

  2. Love this idea.

    As for Richard, that sounds like a you-problem and not an NPH-problem.

  3. I like NPH. But what happened between him and Scott Caan?

  4. So why does the topic header say "Choose your own ADVENTURE?"

  5. It probably is my problem that I'm tired of NPH's shallow antics. Maybe I missed the part where he did something profound.

  7. I just saw him naked at Walmart (on the cover of Rolling Stone, I mean.)
    Never really been a fan of his, but I don't dislike him either. He became a star so young with Doogie Houser.
    Maybe I'll check out his book when it arrives.

  8. I think everyone has had a "believe it or not life." I know I have. NPH reminds me of peanut brittle.
