What’s really hilarious is that as intelligent as many of the Founding Fathers were, they also disagreed about almost everything and fought with each other constantly, especially after 1776. For example, Alexander Hamilton hated almost all of the others, and the feeling was pretty mutual (John Adams hated him with a passion). At one point, he even proposed an army, ostensibly to fight the French, but many believe he planned a coup. Then, in the election of 1880, he called in every favor he could so that Jefferson would win, even though he hated Jefferson, just because he hated Aaron Burr even more. Later, Aaron Burr, also a very flawed individual, killed Hamilton in a duel. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

“Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation” by Joseph J. Ellis is a pretty good book on the subject of the flaws of the Founding Fathers.

well wouldnt that be wonderful IF it were MAGIC…and summoned the spirits of the founding fathers…I think Obama if he blew it – and they appeared ..it would give them all a heart attack and re-kill them – seeing a Black president..and all the other changes to this country…..lol

I believe the Founding Fathers would be appalled to see that the Republic they envisioned has become a de facto political monarchy where election results are essentially meaningless. Politicians (of all parties) are interested foremost in retaining power, secondly by helping their supporters. The more support, the more help. The Founders wrote power to the people, not power to corporations and only those with money.

Chadd: Election results are not meaningless! That is so stupid! If you don’t believe me just elect a republican president and republican house and senate. Then get back to me about how meaningless it all is. What a hellscape it will be!
