Bryan Fischer and Mike Huckabee Fantasize About The Military’s Good Ol’ DADT Days: VIDEO

Low troop morale? Blame Obama and the gays. Christians leaving the military? Blame Obama and the gays. At least, that's your train of thought if your founts of wisdom come in the forms of former AFA spokeshater Bryan Fischer and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Right Wing Watch reports Huckabee, who today revealed he will announce his presidential plans in Hope, Arkansas on May 5, said in an interview with Iowa talk radio host Jan Mickelson yesterday that the Obama administration has “an open hostility toward the Christian faith,” and urged prospective military recruits to wait until the end of President Obama’s term to enlist.

He continued:

"When you have a president whose administration orders its chaplains to put its Bibles away, not to pray in Jesus name, not to counsel people on the issues of sexual morality; when you have this attitude that is more about promoting gay marriage and gay rights in the military than it is about being able to protect religious liberty for those people of faith, it’s going to be hard to find people that are truly devoted people of faith and Christian believers and Orthodox Jews and others.”

Fisher, meanwhile, made the baseless claim that reports of the military's low morale can be directly linked to the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell.

Said Fischer:

"The reason the morale is low in the military is because it's become a giant, social engineering laboratory and values that are absolutely contrary to the military ethos, to the military culture, are being forced on members of the military – crammed down their throats whether they like it or not."

Hear the two wax nostalgically about a time when military men and women were forced to live a lie to serve our country, AFTER THE JUMP…

And let’s not forget that these are two old conservative right-wing men who are distraught over the fact that white men no longer in control this country and that their reign of terror has come to an end. The best they can do today is wax nostalgic over bittersweet memories of a past that is gone for good.

I find it more interesting that a career politician and a philosophy/theology student who have never served a day in their life in the military would have so much to say on the subject…

Because nothing is a greater expressin of Jesus’ message of loving your fellow man than joining the military so you can be trained to kill them.

Neither one of these closet queens could last one day in any branch of the armed forces unlike our gay brethren and sistren.

So Huckabee is announcing his presidency in Hope, Arkansas. The place where Bill Clinton spent much of his upbringing and wrote a book about.

WTF is that? If not for the faux impeachment scandal, both Clintons would get the credit they deserve. As will Obama, with time. The Bushes? Not so much.

Let more Repubs enter the field every day. They hold so little appeal, so many empty promises, and so much negativity. Isn’t everyone tired of that?

why would it concern either one of them neither even served and really done nothing to benefit the country .. now if they want to kill themselves to prove their martyrdom i won’t object

  7. Rich-SD says

Huckabee’s concern for the military careers of Orthodox Jews is particularly amusing since in Israel they lobby for exemption from compulsory military service.

Fischer bases his ‘knowledge’ on a report form 2009. DADT wasn’t repealed until 2011.

as far as Huckabee, where is HE getting his information? christians leaving the military because of Obama? seems to me that his data is coming from ‘christian’ sources. always reliable those…

  9. JEFFYORK says

Why are old white guys always talking about how good the ol’ days were? Is it because they were free to discriminate and to be openly racists and homophobic bigots without consequences?

Funny, Huckabee. While I served in the Navy, it was the born again Christians that put my life in danger daily. 3 examples: 1. carried their bible on the flightdeck during flight ops (FOD hazard – jet engine shrapnel, 2. so wrapped up in reading their bible that they neglected safety training for work (on the clock), 3. so wrapped up in their bible that they were not alert on watch. To put it simply, I’d rather serve beside a Muslim that payed attention to his/her job then these worthless “bible thumpers.”

These two weenies can only fantasize about life in the military, because neither of them ever served. Bryan Fischer was 18 in 1969, his country needed him to help stop the spread of communism in S E Asia. But the Vietnam war found him MIA. Myself and thousands of gay men and women have served their country honorably. To say that I LOATHE people like Huckabee and Fischer is putting it VERY mildly.
