Michele Bachmann: 'God, I’m A Loser'

That's what a new book titled Double Down claims the Republican Congresswoman said to herself after she quit her failed presidential bid in 2012.

The Huffington Post has published an excerpt from the book: 00000403049208

Sitting in her campaign bus, in the same seat where she cried with joy in August, she now sobbed over her drubbing. “God, I’m a loser,” Bachmann said. “God, I turn people off.” With two debates ahead in New Hampshire, some of her advisers thought she should consider staying in the race. Bachmann wanted no part of it. Let’s draft a withdrawal speech for tomorrow, she said.

Double Down focuses on the 2012 presidential campaign and will apparently give a fair amount of attention to Bachmann and her campaign. The book will be released on Tuesday.

If you want to revisit that speech, which took place right after the Iowa caucuses, watch it, AFTER THE JUMP.

Miley_snl

In Saturday Night Live's cold open last night, Miley Cyrus from the past (left) came to warn present day Miley Cyrus that her MTV VMAs performance was going to cause the U.S. government to shut down.

But the shutdown jokes did not stop there.

In a subsequent skit, Cyrus and the SNL cast spoofed her hit video "We Can't Stop" with a Republican party version called "We Did Stop (The Government)" and Cyrus took on the role of an out-of-control Michele Bachmann, partying with House Speaker John Boehner.

Michele Bachmann: Obama Needs 'a Spanking' - VIDEO

Bachmann

In a video for WingNut Daily, Michele Bachmann sends up a right-wing warning flare about Obama and immigration reform:

"He has a perpetual magic wand and nobody’s given him a spanking yet and taken it out of his hand...That’s what Congress needs to do, give the president a major wake-up call. And the way we spank the president, we do it through the checkbook. We have the power of the purse. The most powerful body in Washington D.C. is the United States House of Representatives, of which I'm honored to be a part.”

In other Bachmann, one of her top aides, Javier Sanchez, was arrested by U.S. Capitol Police for theft last Thursday, the AP reports:

Sanchez is legislative director for Bachmann, a Minnesota Republican. Her office is in the Rayburn office building, where police say the thefts took place. Sanchez has been charged with theft of money or goods less than $1,000 in value.

Sanchez was fired Monday evening, according to NBC.

Capitol Police placed a hidden camera in Room 2417 April 4 and placed two envelopes, one with $80 marked "Petty Cash" on one desk, and another marked "Birthday Money" with $120 on another desk. The money from both envelopes was reported missing June 25.

Surveillance video captured a man entering the office just after 6:30 p.m. June 14. The video shows the man opening the chief of staff's drawer, removing an envelope, counting money and taking the cash and envelope with him, the charging documents state.

July 9, Sanchez' boss identified the man in the surveillance video as Sanchez. The two have known each other since January 2013, according to the affidavit.

Family Research Council Heralds' 'Ex-Gay Pride Month' with Launch of Two New Hate Organizations

Exgaypride

Hate group Family Research Council is planning a dinner and reception to announce two new 'ex-gay' rights organizations and a line-up of familiar anti-gay wingnuts has been invited to speak, the HuffPost reports:

The event is scheduled for the end of July, just weeks after the Supreme Court's landmark rulings in favor of gay rights. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) has been extended an invitation as an honorable attendee.

The Family Research Council's legislative affiliate, FRC Action, will officially launch two new ex-gay rights organizations, Voice of the Voiceless and Equality and Justice For All, during the dinner in Washington, D.C., on July 31.

"Come celebrate the lives of former homosexuals and hear about their unique stories and achievements!" reads the invitation.

In addition to Bachman, the Heritage Foundation's Jim DeMint, the Liberty Counsel's Matthew Staver and Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.) -- who on Friday introduced a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage -- have all been invited to speak.

Watch Nancy Pelosi's Blasé Response To Michele Bachmann's Latest Marriage Rant: VIDEO

Bachmann and Pelosi, both political dynamos from very different camps, will be tangling far less now that Bachmann has decided not to run for reelection. However, their congressional relationship had to go out with a bang, and some sense of humor.

Michele bachmannTrue to form, Michele Bachmann lacked all regard for separation of church and state today as she blasted the Supreme Court for their DOMA and Prop 8 rulings and invoked a Christian belief in heterosexually limited marriage.

City Pages reports:

"Marriage was created by the hand of God. No man, not even a Supreme Court, can undo what a holy God has instituted," Bachmann, who isn't seeking another term in Congress and narrowly won reelection last year, wrote.

"For thousands of years of recorded human history, no society has defended the legal standard of marriage as anything other than between man and woman. Only since 2000 have we seen a redefinition of this foundational unit of society in various nations," she continued. "Today, the U.S. Supreme Court decided to join the trend, despite the clear will of the people's representatives through DOMA."

Nancy pelosi"What the Court has done will undermine the best interest of children and the best interests of the United States," she concluded.

When questioned about Bachmann's comments later, Nancy Pelosi responded with a shrug of her shoulders and a barely audible whisper: "Who cares?" Then, a smile crept across her face. It seems the House Minority Leader may have as little regard for Bachmann's comments as the former Presidential candidate does for the Constitution.
