Some more photos for you today from our friends down in Key West and news about MTV’s court fight to keep the show down there.
A judge recently ruled that the show could go on after neighbors at the Real World house filed a lawsuit to prevent the production from continuing, although an approaching hurricane could prove more of a deterrent than the pesky neighbors.
The neighbor’s complaint stemmed from the amount of lighting on the property where the show is being filmed, and the fact that the house has become a stop for several local tour companies.
In his ruling, the judge said that MTV can add no more lighting to the property and must cease overhead filming by a helicopter.
The photo to the left is another shot of Tyler, one of the gay contestants, provided to us by our friends at Key West site Pistol & Enema.
I had another email from a spy down there who says, “I saw the boys at 801 Bourbon on Saturday watching the drag queens. I tried to get a cam phone pic for ya but they didnt turn out. I tried to get a posed pic of the production team with the cops and all but they said that they signed a contract that states they ‘will get fired’ and when I tried to do it sneaky they turned and ran.”
The photos below are from our friend Greg at Design Key West and show members of the cast shopping at Home Depot. Presumably they are shopping for items for their tanning salon (more on that below).
Finally, here’s a photo of the tanning salon run by the Real World Key West cast, shot by resourceful Towleroad correspondent Andrew who was down there on vacation with his boyfriend.
They ask a question I’ve been wondering about for a while: “Why is the cast running a spray-on tanning salon in one of the sunniest places in the country? Is this the kind of business training MTV wants to teach the nation’s youth?”
Thanks to all our Key West correspondents. Stay safe from the approaching storm!
