This week will mark a few milestones for Towleroad. I will soon upload my 3,500th post, and the site will shortly welcome its 10 millionth visitor. Towleroad is receiving around 2 million page views a month now. So, I just wanted to thank everyone for reading and helping make this site something I enjoy creating every day.
I also want to apologize for not often being able to respond as often as I'd like to questions that come up in the comments section. There is just not enough time in my day, and the sheer amount of email that comes in is even difficult for me to get through.
That said, I'd like to hear from you about what you like about the site, what you don't like, what you'd like to see more of. I've started to work with some new people (Daniel Williford and our Towletech section) and may add some more writers in the coming months. I'm also looking at experimenting with new features, technology, video, etc. If you have ideas for features, what you'd like to see covered on video, or even totally new directions for this site, please drop me a line at tips(at)www.towleroad.com. The (at) should obviously be an @ symbol but I've substituted here to avoid the evil spiders that comb the web looking for places to send spam. I get way too much of it already.
Many of you have commented on the interstitial ad that should be popping up just once daily for each unique visitor. As it continues to be necessary to support the site through advertising, I will be experimenting with various methods. This is one that may stay or go, however, I'd like for the query of my post not to end up as a referendum on advertising choices. I just wanted to let folks know that I'm aware of the interstitial and will be using it on a trial basis for now.
I thank you for patronizing our current advertisers as they are what keep this site running. If you know of any companies that would benefit from exposure to Towleroad's culturally-engaged, influential group of readers, please encourage them to learn more about advertising on Towleroad and to be in touch with me to collaborate on any program that makes sense for all involved.
I am looking for someone with time available who has PHP/MySQL web designer/developer skills (especially expertise in configuring and modifying Typepad/Movable Type templates) and is interested in contributing to the expansion of Towleroad. I am also looking for someone who has some experience with Drupal configuration and minor hacks of Drupal modules.
Finally, you may have noticed that the homepage now stays on www.towleroad.com rather than towleroad.typepad.com. If you have the site linked from yours I would appreciate it if you could update your links to go directly to www.towleroad.com. Gracias!
Thanks once again for reading, and please send your thoughts and ideas (however big or small) to tips(at)www.towleroad.com.
P.S. — And keep those Towleroad T-shirt pics coming! I just sent out a huge batch and I'd love to see your sexy mugs on these pages.
