The Towleroad Guide to Brokeback Mountain
Poster Parodies
The Brokeback one-sheet has become fodder for many photoshop imitations. Interestingly, the poster itself was based on the Titanic poster.

Get over it, Pandanell. Your kid is doing worse things on the school bus.

It speaks little of the parenting "adults" of our society that they can't recognize adult humour for what it is: adult. If these people are so concerned that their offspring might be exposed to offensive language and art, they should assume reponsibility for what the little darlings are allowed to access. They might want to get off their collective parental asses and do something more valuable than whine that Uncle Sam isn't doing their job. Art is for arts sake, not for the whimsy of the mediocre and simple-minded.

The religious right and their followers ( unfortunately far too many people with a mob mentality) love freedom of the press as long as it is their "press." They love separation of church and state as long as it is another "church," and not their "church," that is separated from the state

As a high school teacher, believe me, the children are saying AND doing a lot more than using the "F" word, or for that matter, just reading it on AOL. Parents - get off your lazy butts, and realize that it is YOUR job to raise your children, to supervise them, to teach them responsibility, and to teach them right from wrong. As teachers, we can certainly reinforce those valuse, but the buck stops with mom and dad. Stop whining and do your jobs and take responsibility for your own children. And Pandell - try using "Parental Controls" more!

I'd like to present four points for consideration:
1. Everyone should care about children- no matter whose they are.
2. Let's work on developing a culture where people who care about others (probably 99% of humanity) actively Look Out for them.
If you know someone with children, ask them what program they use to filter internet content- Surprisingly, many caring parents have not utilized this readily available feature. To some, it may be intimidating to interact with a computer- Help 'em out.
Have you ever asked someone if they've gotten new batteries for their smoke detector, or how many fire extinguishers they have in their home? My family has been deeply affected by fires in two houses we've lived in, so I have a heightened awareness of how valuable these measures are, and I share it. Ever think of keeping a fire extinguisher near your bed?
3. Like another person mentioned, I was lead to this site by a link to the parody on the Brokeback Mountain poster. I'm not gay- frankly, I would not want to be with a male any more than I would feel attracted to a very, very unattractive female- sorry, guys. Likewise, being approached by either of the aforementioned can be a somewhat repulsive experience for me; but, as long as my personal space is respected, I have no problem 'looking beyond the surface' and dealing with the fellow-human-being who's there. Which leads me to point four...
4. Let's all decide to "live and let live", and help others to stop focusing on peoples' differences- by, ourselves, accentuating similarities and common values and concerns. "Be the change you would like to see in the world."
P.S. "De-throne Bush/Cheney '06"
It's a big part of looking out for the children!

I would like to simply state that i am not the type of person that normally will focus on dimwitted people's useless opinions that are created to just piss people off.
However, i am somehwat appalled at some of the comments i have recently read, and can not understand how some people can be so naive. clearly they made the parodies of the movie poster because it is their JOB, and they poked a little harmless fun at it.
Quite frankly, i dont see anybody criticizing every little thing about your own job, so kindly leave them alone, and please learn how to take a joke.
And also, the bush/cheney poster was hilarious, but enough said there. the last thing i want is some riled-up republican getting all offended because the person they voted into office is single-handedly flushing our nation down the toilet.
good day to you all.

I am a user of AOL and as far as I'm concerned if more parents had the insight and intelligence to use the parental control features that come FREE with the software then they wouldn't have to worry about children being exposed to anything they don't want them to.
As far as the posters, I think they're great, there's nothing wrong with finding humor in anything. I'm willing to make a $50 bet that most of the people that are bitching about the posters are the same ones that told all the Michael Jackson jokes last year. They're not happy unless someone else is miserable. Kinda makes them feel superior. Self-delusion is the best medication for being an asshole.

A few weeks ago, I saw a poster parody with Colin Farrell and Josh Hartnett. It was hot! IMHO the only one worth looking at. But I don't remember where I saw it. Can anybody tell me?

Man!All of these 'Brokeback Mountain' parody posters are crazy! I wouldn't of guest that they would use Gumby and Pokey as one,but I knew that they would use Bert and Ernie. Of course, they're forgetting Beavis and Butthead,Wayne and Garth, and Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees! To tell y'all the truth, how come nobody has ever parodied 'Freddy vs. Jason' with 'Brokeback Mountain', yet?!I hope they do that because wouldn't it be funny if Freddy and Jason were roasting hot smores together under the full moon at Camp Crystal Lake?! They're taking rest on killing people by spending quality time together! Freddy would would say the infamous line from 'Brokeback' to Jason:"Jason,I wish I knew how to quit you!" It would be called 'Brokeback Nightmare on Friday the 13th'!
I sure hope they do that,though! HE,HE,HE,HA,HA,HA...HE,HE,HE,HE,HA,HA,HA,HA
