Australian Open Action with Kiefer and Baghdatis

Kiefer1

Since we're usually doting on Andy Roddick, I thought it's time we "courted" some of the other players down at the Australian Open. Nicolas Kiefer of Germany beat Sebastien Grosjean of France to advance to the semi-finals against Roger Federer this Friday night.

Kiefer has racked up more fines than any other player for his "bad boy" conduct on the tennis court, getting hit for another $1,000 for obscenities during this match.

He hurled one of these rackets at Grosjean in the fifth set.

Kiefer4
It has taken Kiefer 35 tries to get this far in a Grand Slam tournament.

Kiefer5 Kiefer6
A little prayer never hurt.

Kiefer7
He just looks like a bad boy.

The other story out of the Aussie Open is Marcos Baghdatis from Cyprus. He made it into the finals after defeating #4 seed David Nalbandian. I'm not sure if Baghdatis has still got a ball in his shorts or if he's just very excited at having come this far.

Naturally, the Cypriots went wild!

  1. That photo of Baghdatis reminds me of "Dick" Cheney.

  2. I'm sure Baghdatis was excited to win the semi-finals match. Sadly, however, that terrific bulge in his pants was created by a thoroughly prosaic tennis ball. He "closed" out the match with an ace off his first serve and then collapsed on the court, in the kneeling position (see photo), with the second service ball still in his pocket.

Much as I admire Federer (I assume he's going to thrash Kiefer in his semi-final match tonight), it would be great if Baghdatis wins the championship. He's got such a great attitude and such a cute smile!

  3. One should really see Kiefer in person to appreciate all of his best qualities. He is not really much of a "bad boy" on the court. In the 3 matches I've seen, he is more along the lines of fiery and intense. A large majority of the male players shout obscenities during matches, it all depends on who hears them (oh, and Lindsay Davenport has a mouth like a really dirty longshoreman -- she rocks!). If a line judge hears it in the back of the court, he or she can report it and a fine assessed.

But, the best part of a Kiefer match is watching his MASSIVE legs and great ass as he moves across the court. He is a great physical specimen (as your wonderful pictures show).

  4. Nice tennis coverage! Good catch with Nicky Kiefer, who is such a cutie with a great hairy chest. He's also evil and unsportsmanlike, but whatever! He's hot.

Marcos is very sexy as well, a great smile.

And don't forget the losing semifinalist, David Nalbandian, who I really think is one of the sexiest guys on the circuit right now. Really beautiful eyes, nice hunky body, great ass and legs -- almost in the Thomas Muster kind of great category.

  5. Actually, the guys cheering Baghdatis in last photo are Greek. He's from the Greek half of Cyprus. Melbourne -- where the Aussie Open is played -- has the largest Greek population outside of Athens. They've been there for every one of his matches.

  7. Just a small but important correction. Cyprus is not divided. There are no halves of any kind. It has had a Greek population, heritage culture and identity for thousands of years. Currently 80% of its population is Greek about 20% Turkish. Turkey is illegaly occupying militarily about 38% of the island's territory for over 30 years now, and it should have had thesme tretment as Iraq after invading Kuwait... but Cyprus doesn'tproduce oil but orange trees and has given birth to the Goddess of beauty Aprhodite, (aka Venus in the roman version of the Greek mythology). Therefore it's natural Greeks will root for a Greek. Like they did with Sampras (a Greek American) and Filipousis (an Greek Aussie) as well.

  8. Yeah but hang on, that doesn't mean there arn't Greek speaking, Greak/Cypriot identifying people who havn't got Seljuk/(Turk) ancestory.
