Elton John, Facing "Towering" Debts, Lashes Out at Label
Elton John faces "towering" debts according to the Daily Mail. Said one noted pop music accountant: "Everything is big with Elton John. He makes a lot of money and he needs to keep on making it. He has taken a lot of money out of the company and if he suddenly stopped working he could have a problem."
No wonder the singer is pissed at his label. At a recent concert in New York he lashed out at Universal for not promoting his recent release The Captain and the Kid: "I'm going to play a song but I'm sure you haven't heard it because the f**kers haven't promoted it."
Following the tirade, in which he dropped the "f-bomb" 15 times, Elton called on his label to drop him.
Elton also recently began hawking the Elton John Fireside Home Fragrance Collection featuring candles scented with coriander and vanilla (pictured here). They're perfect for your john. The charitable singer also recently donated $20,000 to help fight the gay marriage amendment battle in Wisconsin.

FUCK! Seriously, it is so sad that Elton and Bernie wrote some of the greatest songs out there still, but Elton has just become such a loud, cranky, bitchy and sad caricature of himself that I just wish he would shut the fuck up and go away. Keep raising money and backing causes that will help people, just do it privately. I can't stand him anymore.

I am so fucking sick of hearing about Elton John's gigantic ego, which is always in the press because he is always bitching about someone or something. He is a very spoiled, very little man.

JR you pretty much summed it up. He has his US 'base' right down the street from me (Atlanta). I have seen him many times in different situations here. He is a bloated turd. A friend told me (who supplies it) that he spends $10,000 a month on fresh flowers for his flat-whether he is there or not. Just wasteful.

It seems to me like he lived his life like a candle in the wind.

Mr Elton John needs to take a long, long rehab-seminar in anger management. The public is, after many years, becoming tired with his stench of an attitude.
And, he needs to get over any percieved slights and just get back to producing quality works.
When his talents are over-shadowed by his pathologies, the music world is far less richer.

No small ego he, though entirely tuned into the tendency of most people to totally ignore any of your self-serving excesses once you've convinced them you're a "humanitarian" (paging Reichen), he even published a coffee table book about nothing but a series of such grandiose flower arrangements in his various homes. Cheers for his donation to Wisconsin, but $20,000 wouldn't have even covered the caterer gratuities on his 50th birthday party.

BTW...
How many of you have actually read the re-directed-spam page of this blog? Or, like so many, do you just as quickly hit the reload button... skipping it entirely?
Keep the side-bar adverts and get rid of the re-direct spam -- no one reads it and *everyone* skips it, totally.

It's like Cole Porter's wife said to him in DE LOVELY, "You've been spoiled by the entire world, and for what, a little music". Not only is that Elton's ongoing problem with his overinflated sense of self worth, but it seems that so many celebrities anymore suffer with the same trouble.

I read the re-direct spam only long enough so that I can register who the advertiser is and vow never to purchase one of its products.
I was so fed up with advertisements on this and other sites that I installed this simple extension in Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1865/
It's awesome and free and automatically gets rid of most ads on all sites, including this one!

Elton spends a lot of time and gives a huge amount of money away each year through his Aids Foundation. What do you bitches do that is even comparable?
Posted by: Patrick | Nov 7, 2006 3:21:06 PM
Patrick makes a very good point. Yes, Elton is over-the-top (to say the least) and has an enormous ego. Yet he has done so much for people in need that I don't think it's asking too much to overlook his excesses. He's rather like an eccentric Auntie Mame, albeit with more bite..

this 'bitch' delivers meals to people living with AIDS, and gives money several times a year to AIDS causes. I do all this without being a 'bitch' you describe.
Posted by: Andrew | Nov 7, 2006 3:47:03 PM
Bravo, Andrew. And, in a kind of "adjusted for inflation" way, I would guess it takes up far more of your time and resources in relative terms than Ms. John's. So Patrick and Kimmer, get a clue and stop sounding like little girls writing in your Hello Kitty diaries your defense of Britney or whomever.

Yeah! Elton is a veritable messiah for gaydom. (*not*) Actually, speaking of bitches... From all accounts, he wins hands-down.
While he has contributed much to fight AIDS, i can only wonder what that amount is percentage-wise of his income; Truth is, it pales in comparison to most socially-active homosexuals.
Shame on Elton.
He needs to get a grip on his emotions.
It's doing more harm than good, for him and gaydom.

I don't care, I still love Elton. He's like a cranky, crazy uncle. And, until any of you have written "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", "Someone Saved My Live Tonight", "Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters" or even "I'm Still Standing" I'll still give him the benefit of the doubt.
Posted by: Daniel | Nov 7, 2006 7:42:02 PM
Cranky? Yes. Spoiled? Yes. Overindulgent? Probably. But Elton does so much good for gay and AIDS causes, and he's so suppportive of new and rising musicians (hell, he deserves a medal just for the songs he co-wrote on the new Scissor Sisters album), he can be as grouchy as he wants. Elton's been around the block and back and he's one of the few musicians in a position to openly challenge the bean-counters who run music labels. Let him bark.

Who among us, given a bajillion dollar income, wouldn't have some pet self-indulgence that could be considered a bit over the top? People have been circulating rumors about his floral excesses for decades, and buzz has made the rounds from day one about whether he may spend more than he can recoup through new ventures. When I think about the way he repeatedly "saved my life tonight" in the 70's as I lay in the floor of my lonely teenage room with an 8-track player for a pillow, the only thought I can have of Elton is that I am grateful to him for his music and for making me feel that it was ok to be me.

I have to say, cranky or not, he is still a beatiful, caring soul. He has been and always will be a hero for the gay community. No matter what overspending that bitch does, I love him. Yah! I do. So there. Rick

It's quite apparent that Elton isn't getting any, which is causing the bitchiness, temper tantrums, etc. I blame David. Elton needs to go to weight loss spa for a couple of months deal with his issues.
