Same-Sex Marriage in Canada Here to Stay
The Canadian House of Commons today voted down a motion to reopen the debate on gay marriage by a vote of 175 to 123 with twelve Tories breaking rank. Opponents still insisted they would continue the battle but it was widely agreed that this vote was the "final word" on the issue.

Our MP's have only voted on this issue about 19 times and each time the Conservatives keep losing. It's getting so pathetic.
I think they've thrown in the towel this time.

Canada goes forward with Equality....While America goes backward. I say to america>>>>Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

I am an American originally from New York City who has been living in Canada with my same-sex partner since 1985. We live in the wonderful city of Montreal in Quebec, which has permitted gay marriage for several years. I am proud to be in a country that has such forward thinking leaders and citizens. Although there are still many things I love about my home country, I must say, that I have never been happier than since I have been living in Canada. Much more relaxed, open-minded, progressive and liberal than the U.S. Perhaps when that bastard Bush leaves office and takes his religious fundamentalist crowd with him, things will begin to go in the right or should I say left direction again in my country.

...America is, and always will be, a great country. It's unfortunate that it's currently being held hostage by a buncha religious facists/fanatics. I live in Canada, I LOVE it, but I love America too! Hang in there, it won't be long now...

HELPPP!!!! I am a lesbian, American citizen. My partner of 5 years is a canadian citizen. We want to get married. I am a nurse, so it would not be any problem for me to get a job once in Canada and legally able to work. My question is...If I marry my Canadian partner now, would I be able to stay in Canada legally while awaiting my permanent residency papers to go through?
