"Ex-Gay" Donnie Davies Speaks about "The Bible Says" Video

For those of you who were transfixed by the bizarre "The Bible Says" video which appeared on this site the other day (and inspired more comments more quickly than almost anything I have ever posted) and was later taken down by YouTube, Dan Savage at Slog has done some great work that still leaves us wondering, is this guy for real?

By the way, you can still view the original video here...

Via Dan come these two new videos, as well as the text of an IM session between Seattle's Laurence Ballard and Davies. Ballard contacted Savage after IMing with the man who holds the AIM name PastorDavies, which is listed on the LoveGodsWay website.

The video on the left appeared yesterday, following the controversy and the rapid viral spread of the Donnie Davies "The Bible Says" video .

In the video, Davies talks about the video and thanks people at YouTube and MySpace, as well as Andrew Sullivan, whom he calls a "great Christian man". He thanks Sullivan for condemning YouTube's removal of the video. Davies also talks about being an ex-gay.

The video on the right has been on YouTube since Monday. In it Donnie Davies welcomes people to his ex-gay ministries and introduces his videos.

Real or hoax? Savage thinks it's for real. The debate rages on.

UPDATE: Is Donnie Davies really actor/musician/improv performer Todd Quillen?

  1. I don't get it either...Eminem said he was joking as well when he wrote disses against faggots in his songs; so do most mainstream rappers, but the result is the same for the listeners.

So what's the point here: it's a hoax, and maybe this guy just wants to be famous, so hahaha? but what do I win?

I don't think "Donnie Davis" is the type of person I'd love to hear from anyway.

  2. Am I the only one who sees a problem here? While everyone in the gay community is going back and forth trying to figure out whether or not this guy is "for real", real damage is being done. Or am I the only homosexual who was raised in a christian home that realizes, real or fake, this video could do some serious damage to the GLBT youth in this country. Stop trying to be the latest sound bite and realize there are REAL lives at stake!

  3. That's right, Jake. Real or not, this message is horribly false and damaging. Just listening to it causes me to cringe in bitterness...what a lie. Jesus does not heal homosexuality. Period. It's all been proven false before(I'm living proof), many, many times, but deluded christians won't hear it.

  4. It's obviously a clever joke. If you haven't figured it out by now, you're retarded.

  6. EXODUS, and ex-gay movement had to replace the leaders with 2 stright men posing as ex-gay's because the founders fell in love, left their wives and ran off together. It's no large leap to believe this guy is a fake.
