American Idol Part 1: Bush Gives Back?

Bush_american_idol_2

President Bush and Laura Bush made a valiant attempt to attach themselves to the fundraising juggernaut that is Idol Gives Back, last week's fundraising show for impoverished children which raised more than $70 million.

TRANSCRIPT:

GEORGE: Good evening. Laura and I are pleased to join you tonight and thank you for raising millions of dollars for children living in poverty in America and Africa.

LAURA: Because of your generosity, African children will receive bed nets to protect against malaria, and some of America's poorest children will get medical care and healthy food.

GEORGE: We thank all American Idol viewers who have shown the good heart of America, and we thank all the celebrities who participated - including Bono - and all the contestants who sang their hearts out for these children. Say Laura, do you think I oughta sing something?

LAURA: I don't know darling. They've already seen you dance.

END.

They've also seen Bush strum the guitar while thousands waited for assistance they never received in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. It makes one wonder whether his sagging approval rating inspired the sudden interest in the plight of America's poor.

"Rupert Murdoch admits manipulating the media…Surprise…Surprise"

    http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/02/04/rupert-murdoch-admits-manipulating-the-mediasurprisesurprise/

While at Davos, Rupert Murdoch discusses the rise of the Internet and digital media, but tells us he used News Corp. to manipulate the news.

Asked if his News Corp. managed to shape the agenda on the war in Iraq, Murdoch said: "No, I don't think so. WE TRIED." Asked by Rose for further comment, he said: "We basically supported the Bush policy in the Middle East…but we have been very critical of his execution."

Am I reading this correctly? I found the webcast and it seems they haven't included Rupert's admission in the 9 minutes or so that they posted? I emailed The World Economic Forum for the full video. A memo to Murdock: A news organization is supposed to report—–— the news, not support an agenda.

  3. For all those who preach tolerance, you are hypocrits. For all of those who cite Bush's response to Katrina, think back to the MAYOR! And for everyone, we are not SOCIALISTS! Perhaps a trip to Cuba might be in order?

I think they First Lady is as classy as they come. And THANK GOD for our president who has kept us safe while in office.

  4. Please USS Cole, don't patronize us. If you'll remember, 9/11 happened on his watch. He was the president already. What has he kept us safe from? Tell that to the parents of the over 3000 U.S. soldiers who have been killed so far.

  5. USS Cole wingnuts like Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh have invented personal attacks as a legitimate form of political discourse and discussion!!

They should be happy that whole country has jumped in on the trend.

  7. If you will remember the very first bombing of the world trade center happened on Clintons watch and the bombing of the USS Cole happened on clintons watch. what was done. Zero!!! Dont forget that Hillary was supposed to take care of Health Care when Bill got in office. Did it happen NO!! The soldiers are a lot braver than most of us and this military is a volunteer and not draft. These soldiers gave their lives. I am ashamed of you people that disrespect our President. I dont agree with all that he has done but I would never act like children. Dont forget that congress also voted to go to war. it was not his decision solely.

  8. It is really hard to fathom that people like Patty exist. Since Patty has been living in a cave, can't comprehend the news and certainly can't reach any logical conclusions, I will spell it out for her. The four terrorists who bombed the World Trade Center in 1993 were caught, tried and all are in jail in the United States serving combined prison terms of 240 years.

On September 29, 2004, a Yemeni judge sentenced Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri and Jamal al-Badawi to death for their roles in the bombing of the USS Cole. Al-Nashiri, believed to be the operation's mastermind, is currently being held by the U.S. at Guantanamo Bay (Cuba) detention camp.

Hillary Clinton was not elected to any office at the time Bill Clinton was President. Her work towards a Universal Health Care Plan were on a best efforts basis and were premature.

Any volunteer member of the United States Armed Forces signs up for a variety of reasons which include protecting this country from its enemies. This act of good faith does not include invading a third world nation to topple its government for the sole purpose of controlling the largest known oil reserves in the world. And if successful, that control would have been in the hands of oil companies, not the U.S. government. And yes, this is the only reason the United States is occupying Iraq, believe it or not.

Finally, how can you respect a President who clearly has no regard whatsoever for human life, especially those of the United States Armed Forces for whom he is Commander in Chief? It has been three long years since this idiot declared "Mission Accomplished." Now, another 3,000 plus Americans have lost their lives fighting a war that cannot be won with no end in sight. Iran will use the power of radical Islam to achieve its goal of assuming control of the Persian Gulf. And, they will fight to the death. They have made their intentions public and well known to anyone who keeps up with current events. Iranian leaders also know they need only let the clock run until the will of the American people force the withdrawal of its troops. The Iraq war is the Bush / Cheney / Halliburton oil grab.

Congress voted to go to war based on information manufactured by the Bush administration for use in the January 2002 State Of The Union Address to Congress which became the underpinnings for invading Iraq. All of this intelligence information has now been determined to be totally bogus.

All of this is well known to every member of Congress. So far, the leaders of Congress have chosen not to use this information as they know that all appropriation bills will become mired in gridlock once they take off the gloves and go after this President. Today the veto override failed. So if Congress is to force the will of the American people on the Bush administration, the subpoenas need to be issued and the Bush / Cheney White House needs to be exposed for who they really are.

Anyone who is buying the load of bullshit that this administration is serving up needs to have "IDIOT" stamped in red letters on their forehead.

As for Bush appearing at the close of American Idol last night, it is appalling and totally disgusting. We have blown well over $400 billion on this war which would have fed and clothed all of the impoverished children in America and Africa for many years to come.

And no doubt Patty, you are not aware that if the war were to end this year, the total cost to mop it up, defend the Persian Gulf so the oil tankers can navigate through, pay the war Veterans and supply health care to the wounded and mentally disabled (PTSD Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome)is now estimated to be over $2 trillion.

George Bush can and will go straight to hell.

  10. Did Bush even give $1 toward this effort? If not he can kiss my azz. It just goes to show what Roger Ailes, Bush BFF, can do when he wants to.

  13. Way to be mature Patty. Your ignorance is unsurpassed...I bet you consider yourself a 'christian' too...It is obvious in your post with all of those big girl words you are using. P.S. Why don't you quit blogging and go do something productive with your life...I just can't believe your ignorance. This is the first time i have ever posted a blog...I was just dumbfounded by your obvious lack of education...Everything you have argued was a direct quote from none other than Sean Hannity...Go suck his cock some more you dumb fuck republican, ignorant bitch

  14. Honestly, little Bush, and his devil bride, looked lame, weak, and goofy.

The show itself may be interesting to the tired, but it was NOT relaxing to watch a murderous international criminal, masked as the President, reading a script written by a third grade drop-out.

  15. Bush gives over 10% of his gross annual income to charity. Check out his income tax records - then look at your own. How many of you, or your "compassionate" heroes do that?

You may not like him. You may disagree with every policy he has ever made - but, he is a generous man who isn't afraid to pull his own checkbook out to support causes he believes in.

  16. Bush goes to a middle school to spout some propaganda to try to get to middle class America through the kids. All the kids are assembled, and Bush takes the podium.

    "Does anyone have any questions?"

    A hand goes up.

"Yes, what is your question, young man?"

"Hi. My name is Billy, and I have three questions. If Gore won the popular vote, why are you President? Why do you call it 'The Patriot Act' when it takes away people's civil rights? And where are all these weapons of mass destruction?"

Bush, clearly nervous, clears his throat and says, "Well, Billy. These are all good questions. We're going to take a little break, then I'll be happy to answer them."

After about a half hour the kids are assembled once again in the auditorium.

Bush is back at the podium, straightening his hair and tie. "Are there any more questions?"

    Another hand goes up.

"Yes, young lady, what is your question?"

"My name is Mary, and I have four questions. If Gore won the popular vote, why are you President? Why do you call it 'The Patriot Act' when it takes away people's civil rights? Where are all these weapons of mass destruction? And where's Billy?"

  17. "He expressed his support for those living in poverty in America and Africa."
Umm, he's the President. If he gave a crap about the poor in Africa, he'd have fulfilled his campaign promise to send them a fortune in AIDS funding. Instead, he chose not to fund that promise. And his support of the poor in America? Please. Only if you mean that he "supports" the idea of America having lots of poor people.
