Mary Cheney Gives Birth to a Baby Boy
Mary Cheney and her partner Heather Poe gave birth to a baby boy this morning at Sibley Hospital in Washington, D.C. It is the sixth grandchild for Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife Lynne.
The baby's name is Samuel David Cheney.
Mary Cheney's partner of 15 years, Heather Poe, will have no legal relationship with the child under Virginia law, according to Jennifer Chisler of Family Pride: "In the state of Virginia, it’s very difficult for lesbian couples to have children together. Heather Poe will have no legal relationship with her child. She can’t adopt as a second parent. She won’t have her name on the birth certificate."
So here's the official photo released by the White House. Somehow I doubt we'll see an official photo of Mary and Heather with the baby.
Family Pride is holding a digital baby shower for the Cheney-Poes.

How long before Dick Cheney eats the baby?

How dare these fuckers pose with that baby when they consider the mothers' sexuality to be a disturbing inconvenience. Dick's expression is a bit more indicative of the underlying truth though. How dare Mary hand the kid over, furthermore? She's an enabler, squandering many opportunities to vehemently oppose the dogma her parents and their friends have been oppressing us with.

Oh come on 000000! I have no love for the Cheney clan at all, but they love their daughter and have the look of proud grand-parents.

Those plastic smiles on the faces of the "proud grandparents" will scar the poor kid for life.

Well... if that didn't stop his heart, nothing will.

I'm very happy for Mary and the baby and that lady who lives with them.

Vlad Dracul and Mrs. Dracul invite you to the christening of their grandson, Damien.
My invitation to the baby shower must have gotten lost in the mail. Not to worry. I'm gifting him a lifetime membership in PFLAG, SLDN, NOW, and the ACLU.

So when are they going to start sodomizing the kid? I hear your supposed to start before you toilette train. After all thats what homo's do to kids right?
In the words of that dude in New Orleans on CNN a couple years ago:
"Fuck off Mr. Cheney"
Posted by: Brandon | May 23, 2007 6:56:46 PM
No, James. They love the parts of her that they picked and chose for approval according to their deluded opinion of how love and life should be legislated. You'd probably leave a lover you couldn't respect %100. Why can't she do it with her parents?

The words 'republican' and 'hypocite' are virtually synonymous!

Okay, you parents out there, here's your opportunity. All you have to do is see that your little Johnny or Jane goes into psychology. They could get VERY rich as this kid's therapist. Lord knows, he's going to need a good one.

Hopefully the child will not get Dads looks and Mary's talent.
I also hope the child can survive the stares of disapproval from the grand parents. Republicans are all about that stare of disapproval.

the good news here is that at least the couple is suffering the same law, just like EVERY other gay couple.
i wish the bush twins could go fight their father's war, so they can join other families, and suffer from the situations they support.

maybe in the years to come they'll go a-huntin' and the kid'll blow dick's greedy evil face off.

Johnosahon
The Bush twins are perfectly able and capable (albeit with training) to go to Iraq, but alas we have a volunteer army and apparently the sales at Nordstroms and nights at Cain or Bungalow 8 are too important to give up.

What a bizarre photo! WHERE ARE THE PARENTS? Typically, a mother poses with her child while the partner and assorted grandparents look on.
Of course, we know why the parents aren't present, but still, isn't this unusual anyway? (I'm British so I'm used to Royals posing in official photos.)

Its a beautiful thing that has this disgusting undercurrent to it.

Please take the picture down. It's just disturbing. Reminds me of "The Hills Have Eyes".

00000,
"You'd probably leave a lover you couldn't respect %100. Why can't she do it with her parents?"
Huh? Maybe she actually loves her parents even with their flaws. Instead of getting funky about the personal lives of the Cheney clan the public policies of the White House seem a bit more fertile territory.

Utter hypocrisy from the creatures who run this country.

Posted by: sean | May 24, 2007 9:57:56 AM
wow - the kids been alive for like a day and you have already branded it as evil...even the worst homophobes usually wait until a kids about 8 or 9 before they start hating with such dedication. impressive.
Posted by: dan | May 24, 2007 10:05:54 AM
Congratulations to Mary and Heather on the birth of their son. If they are anything like me, their WHOLE outlook on life, and all their preconceived priorities, will change as they face the rest of their lives with looking out for the wellbeing of someone OTHER than themselves.
Hopefully this blessed event will lead to an awakening to the anti-family laws of our country and the anti-family, homophobic policies so deeply entrenched in the GOP platform.
I sincerely hope that this innocent child doesn't have to suffer because of the policies (foreign and domestic), laws and amendments that his mother and grandfather helped bring into existence.
Posted by: Zeke | May 24, 2007 10:11:33 AM
zeke -- amen brother. its weird though, from all reports, dick and mary are very close...do you think that the cheney's are really anti gay, or is it just political posturing to remain in power? in the last 20 odd years as i've watched politics more closely, there seems to be a huge and growing disconnect between personal beliefs and political image making. which is in effect more disturbing i suppose. either way...a kid being born is always a good thing in terms of cracking open the hard shell of narrow self interest. you nailed that one.
Posted by: dan | May 24, 2007 10:17:53 AM
Criticizing the kid is unfair. What I do question, however, is the judgment of Ms. Cheney and Ms. Poe in continuing to live in Virginia with its demeaning laws, thereby denying the child the opportunity to have another legal guardian.
Or are they expecting grandpappy's millions to take care of things?
Posted by: Gianpiero | May 24, 2007 1:35:59 PM
Dan, I would find it much more palatable to think that they actually believe in the things that they promote. The idea that they don't personally believe in these anti-family and homophobic policies, but are willing to throw people like themselves and their loved ones under the bus to promote and support them for political gain is MUCH more shameful and offensive in my book.

Oh, Mary....
That baby is so cute, too bad it has those two freaks as grandparents.
I think I'll have a glass of Champagne to ease the pain!
Kisses, MargOH!

SANDER, I totally agree with you about how unusual it is to have an "official" picture like this where the mother/parents are nowhere to be seen. I sincerely doubt that you will EVER see a picture of the grandparents, child, mother AND Poe; at least not until Cheneye leaves office. The Republican base simply won't tolerate such blatant displays of family values; ESPECIALLY not from members of the "Family Values Party" (TM).
Posted by: Zeke | May 24, 2007 3:20:04 PM
LOL... just a thought... ala "Housewives", if Lynne were a little younger, do you suppose she might have pulled a Bree? Sending Mary off to Europe and then presenting the world with Mary's "sister"?

I laugh all the way to the bank, believe me.
Posted by: Beck07 | May 25, 2007 2:58:03 AM
I have to agree with Dan--what's the baby itself got to do with anything? His increasingly more obvious existence may well bring the stupidity of this administration's policies to a very concrete point. The kid may well eventually be the one making the most noise about the unfairness of his family's situation. Kids have a way of cutting through bullshit like a scalpel. (What's with the stupid flame war over this, btw?)
