Lance Bass Talks About New Love Interest, Pedro Andrade

Pedroandrade

Lance Bass officially brings his relationship with Pedro Andrade out of the closet, talking to People magazine about meeting the Brazilian model while traveling with gay designer duo Heatherette to the Life Ball AIDS benefit in Vienna, Austria.

LandroSaid Bass:

"He was asleep in the back of the plane on the way over. I was like, 'He's really cute.' It's so fresh and new. The good thing is learning everything about him. He's really great . . . amazing. It's fun to say, 'Hey, I'm seeing someone I met in Vienna.' We were there for, like, 24 hours. It's the first time I've ever been able to date, so it's nice to go out and get to know people and not jump into a relationship right away, which I usually do."

In other news, Bass will be joining the cast of Hairspray on Broadway on August 14th, playing dance show host Corny Collins. Incidentally, Bass also has a cameo in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, opening this weekend, playing a wedding singer.

Meanwhile, Andrade has his hand slapped by TMZ for being a bad tipper.

  2. Ugh, how does Lance Bass get these beautiful men? Do I need to burn my face with an iron to land a hottie like that (or be a washed up singer from a 90's boy band)? ;) - Ok, I know I'll get flamed for those comments, but I couldn't resist the joke lol.

  5. It's a match made in heaven.....struggling model who though cute is not cute enough to become an ubermodel hooks up with a C-list singer/actor who can't possibly rely on his so-called talent alone to remain in the news...quid pro quo honeys. Worked for Reichen, didn't it?

We're already discussing them so it is working!

  6. Gabe, you're right... there's clearly a lid for every pot. Gives hope to the rest of us.

  7. WHAT HAPPENED TO PEDRO'S FORMER BOYFRIEND (THE BLONDE GUY WHO WAS ON THE COVER OF THE ADVOCATE WITH PEDRO)? They were in a long term relationship. Saw them everywhere together. Pedro and his former boyfriend were always staring me down at Equinox.

I should have tapped that when I had the chance! Maybe I can at least find the ex. Then I'll grab Pedro when Lance inevitably dumps him (or Pedro realizes he is too good for a "CREDIT CARD ROMANCE").

  8. Kudo's to Lance, at least he's out and proud and doing his best to show the world that being a "gay" celebrity is NBD. How many male celebrities that are in their 20's can you name that talk about how they met their boyfriends?

    Posted by: Dori | Jul 18, 2007 10:10:34 AM

  9. Oh pretty please! Coming out was laudable yes but career suicide was never a possibility because he didn't have a career to begin with. What is his claim to fame before he admitted he was gay anyway. Virtually nothing really.

  10. Good for them, but I still can't figure out what the attraction to Lance Bass is all about. I don't find him attractive in the least. He always looks like a deer caught in the headlights whenever he's photographed. Of all of the boys in his band, he was the least talented. (I love the skits that MAD TV used to do, parodying N'Sync and Lance especially.)

Money talks, I guess. His "celebrity", C-list status and all, must also help.

And yeah, it is great that he's so open now and talks about meeting his boyfriends, etc. but how many of them has he burned through over the past couple of years? Color me jealous, but there have been at least three that I can recollect.

And then there's little old me, still waiting just for one. "Bitter, party of one."

  11. is it just me, or is lance starting to look like divine? i mean a thin, untalented divine? theres something very milsteady about him. maybe he should play edna in hairspray instead?

  12. Crappy tipper?
That's probobly because they don't have to tip in Brasil.

  13. Good for Lance, I hope he's happy. And his career has seen a boost since coming out of the closet. He was pretty much dead in the water before, not he's hot in the press again. And he is helping the cause by being open now.

  14. COOL: "his career has seen a boost since coming out of the closet."

career ?? when was the last time Lance Bass performed ??
he's a reality show waiting to happen.

  16. “Andrade’s ‘amazing’”? LOL! A nice dig at Lance’s ex. You know, the BOTTOM half of the gay former couple that won “The Amazing Race” [though to read Reichen’s sticky fingers press packet you’d think he was the first SOLO contestant to win——but then you’d also think he was the Gay Messiah]. And speaking of, given how Lance and Andrade met, and to show he has no hard feelings for being kicked to the curb with his boxes of unsold books and calendars after his dick-a-dick with another reality starlette, wouldn’t it be classy and sweet of Reichen to send them a set of his FLY NAKED rings? Let’s all write him and suggest it:

  17. damn...I promised myself I'd stop reading the comments at Towleroad. Now I remember why. I hope I don't have to give up reading the blog completely.

  18. I had heard (although I cannot vouch for its veracity) that a mortgage lender foreclosed on Reichen Leimkuhl's home because he skipped too many mortgage payments. Sounds likely. He was dating Lance Bass at the time so he probably figured he didn't have any monetary concerns.

But how much can Lance Bass really be worth? Pedro had better start spending Lance's money fast and furious before it runs out. (This pairing seems so bad I can't help wondering if Pedro really ever stopped dating his last boyfriend--maybe it is all a ruse.)

  19. Does N'Sync have residuals? Aren't they suing their former manager? Lance will always deserve credit for getting the wave going in 2006 that led to several others coming out. He wasn't brave exactly, but in the end it hardly mattered. The question is, why isn't 2007 better than 2006?

    Posted by: anon (gmail.com) | Jul 18, 2007 1:33:56 PM

  20. TONY THE TIGER,

N'Sync was one of the worst bands ever. They were also one of the most profitable, thanks to 14 year old girls everywhere who bought their music and their t-shirts. So I'd imagine Lance Bass has plenty of dough...if I had to guess I'd say he's probably got upwards of 30-40 million in the bank. If that sounds like spare change, given we live in the age of the billionaire, let me assure you, 30-40 million puts you well into the top 1% of wealth in the US. So Lance has money. Too bad he doesn't have the looks (or talent) to go along with it.

  21. Peter,

Did you make any money off the Spider Man franchise? I don't get any residuals at all as a spokeperson for Kellog's Frosted Flakes. I had a really bad lawyer. I hope you did not make the same mistake.

Do you still live in Forest Hills?

P.S. Mary Jane Watson is a complete troll. Still I would tap that.

  22. I like to have fun with shallow gay celebrities, but, seriously, how the hell can anyone deduce that Lance deserves credit for others coming out simply because it happened after he did. He'd probably STILL be in the closet himself if he hadn't been outed. Even the great gay activist Reichen was helping keep secret that the boybander was ploughing him when caught by a photographer on a shopping spree in NYC with two women D-listers they suddenly switched to walking as boy-girl couples.

And then there was that little promise Lance made when the Human Rights Champagne fund canonized them both that he was going to "work every day to earn this award." Still waiting.....

  23. Leland, Lance was one of the co-hosts of this year's NY AIDS Walk. It's not much, but it's something.

And does he really NEED to do anything? Isn't it enough that gay teens in Boonieville, America can open up People Magazine and US Weekly and see Lance Bass talking about his boyfriend, and how happy he is out of the closet? He gets a bunch of publicity and attention for someone who is gay.

I really don't understand a lot of the negative comments directed at Lance. Okay, you might not think he's good-looking, but the general consensus is that he's a really nice, sweet kid who never gets into trouble. He lived a quiet life out of the public eye for a few years before his opportunist whore of a boyfriend exploited him for his own gain. What did he ever do wrong, besides make lonely, bitter queens seethe with jealousy over his hot boyfriends? Nothing.

  24. my gosh lance seems vapid as hell, that's so unfortunate.

can we get a popular person to come out of the closet? that's...you know...smart and talented? and a bit mainstream?

    keyword on the smart part.

but good for lance...and his hot boyfriend...yay?

    peaceout.

  25. Lance is really trying to stretch the last few seconds of his 15 minutes. I'd have more respect for him if he were to set a good example by daing a guy who wasn't just out to be a seudo-celeb themselves and the relationship actually lasted. I give it a couple of months, if even that.

    Posted by: Matty | Jul 18, 2007 4:19:16 PM

  26. C'mon Matty....how can you possibly say sorry-you're-gorge-and-Brazilian-but-i-know-you're-just-using-me-to-become-famous-yourself when faced with that overwhelming male pulchritude?

Lance can start dating the regular joes after these celebrity fuckers have stopped knocking on his door. For now, enjoy them boys Lance....just don't fall in love mmmmkay?

  27. Jesus, would it ever occur to some of you that someone might be attracted to a person for having a NICE PERSONALITY and being a GOOD PERSON?

...Oh wait. This is Towleroad. You guys wouldn't know what those things are.

  28. I find this relationship fascinating; fascinating that Pedro's no more Brazilian-model than Lance is a good singer. Please. That mo has been throwing parties in NYC for years, usually setting himself up with a nice table and bottle service. And when I'd met him a few years back, he was known as a bit of a one-night wonder. Not exactly 'dating' material, but definitely someone you'd want to spend a night with.

Litte bit later, and he's some model (please) dating (please) Lance Bass?!?!?! Lance, dude. wise up man. There's a good majority of guys in NYC that have their own money to spend, don't sell yourself short. And for the record, Pedro....not that hot. Always looked a little bit....hmmm...out of it.

  29. "It's fun to say 'Hey, I'm seeing someone I met in Vienna'"????? To who? Who cares?

I really do wish them well... and I have nothing against Lance -- but I give it 6 weeks, tops.

    Posted by: k | Jul 19, 2007 12:28:35 AM

  30. Well, if Pedro had one whiff of a brain in his pretty little head, and doesn't want to be left cashless when this little "adventure" is over, which will be MUCH sooner than later, given Lance's track record (not the best), he seriously needs to consider snooping into financial records or barring that, drugging Lance and devising a blackmail scheme.

It's always easier to expand your lifestyle rather than downscale. He's just the flavor of the month. I wish him luck. He's gonna need it.

  31. YOU GUYS ARE ALL JUST JEALOUS THAT I BAGGED LANCE BA$$ AND YOU DIDN'T!!!!

I FINALLY GOT MY PAYDAY AFTER ALL THOSE DAYS AT THE GYM AND NIGHTS BEHIND THE BAR AND I HAVE NOTHING TO APOLOGIZE FOR!

  32. Jez, these are celebreties, people. Don't fault them for any of that, or hate on them for playing their own game. There are bigger evils in the world. Utterly forgettable, minor talents, fodder for your distraction and dreams. Tha's Entertainment.
