  1. Plastic Fantastic, maybe...

  2. While I find him very handsome the hot factor is killed by the smugness of the 2 X 4 up his a$$.

  3. Mr Ford makes a good effort, however, Bryan Ferry is beyond question 10x the style icon this wannabe icon will ever be.....

  4. Never did like Tom Ford.

  5. I can't say anything for the editorial content of the magazine, but from a graphic design standpoint this looks like something Tom's Assistant came up with over his lunch break.

  6. funny to think I used to think Tom was sexy. The smugness and forced brooding looks TOTALLY killed it. That, and he went from being just gay to being a total fag.

  7. Tom seems to a cursed name, plus he's a total tool.

  8. ditto. liked him at first glance, progressively disliked him more and more ever since to the point now i can barely look at him.

  9. Why does he get on my last nerve? Same smug, sly smile, Perfectly predictable stubble. I liked him when he was obscure. Now, he is just so full of himself and it shows and it's a major turnoff.

  10. Actually, Dan, Fantastic Man is the fashion magazine created by Jop Van Bekkerman and Gert Jonkers, the brilliant minds behind Butt Magazine. If you've never read Butt (the content is primarily text, not ass pictures, though there are those, too), I suggest you pick up an issue and check out some of their amazing interviews or even get the book.

    Butt Book:

The design is meant to be anti-fashion, much like Butt is designed to be anti-magazine. (It's smaller, and its printed on pink paper...)

  11. I agree with Dan. The mag looks like an ad for a local tuxedo shop in Cleveland, circa 1988. Or like one of those posters that hangs at your dry cleaners. Bad.

  12. I'm not a great fan of Tom's, but...nice dinner jacket, shirt, studs & tie. More elegant & classy than Tom.

  17. Fantastic Man just lost my subscription. When first I discovered this magazine they had pages of great features on men (and often *mature men* leading fascinating lives) who looked like real men, not pouty models, and designers who drew their inspiration (and wardrobe) from thrift stores yet managed to look, well, fantastic.

Stefano Pilati was a great choice for a cover subject: mature, funny, charming, and naturally good looking. Ford does nothing for me artistically (and even less physically, a criticism that is warranted by his insistence on using himself to sell his product), and the only thing fantastic about him is his ability to maintain a career based on talking about himself and how he'd really like to direct movies.

Sorry guys, but Fantastic Man ain't so fantastic anymore.

  18. Who is Tom Ford again? Oh right he is one of those disgusting fur peddlers. Not fantastic. Barbaric.
