road.jpg Jamaican prime minister stands behind nation's homophobia: "Jamaica is not going allow values to be imposed on it from outside. We're going to have to determine that ourselves and we're going to have to determine to what extent those values will adapt over time to change, change in perception, change in understanding as to how people live."

Johns_rauschenbergroad.jpg Tyler Green on the hetero-normalizing of the late Robert Rauschenberg: "Critics at America's largest publications, including Michael Kimmelman, Alan Artner, Blake Gopnik, Richard Lacayo, and Peter Plagens, mostly avoid the topic. Kimmelman's queasy reference to Jasper Johns, Rauschenberg, and "the intimacy of their relationship" was the closest the Times came to acknowledging that Rauschenberg was gay. The Boston Globe's Mark Feeney, Obit magazine's Phyllis Tuchman and Newsweek's Plagens and others also took the Johns route. The two major papers in Rauschenberg's home state were even more timid."

road.jpg Court in Malta rules that calling someone "gay" is not defamatory: "Magistrate Michael Mallia ruled that a person’s sexual orientation in the current society was not of social interest bar that of assuring that no discrimination is made. Americans have traditionally recognized this definition as being the most beneficial arrangement for the creation of stable family structures and for the upbringing of children. In fact, Americans have repeatedly shown their preference for the traditional definition of one-man, one-woman marriage by passing state and federal laws or by amending state constitutions to preserve the traditional definition,' Broun said."

  1. That Hillary video sounds and looks far more like Nancy Pelosi. Frightening.

  2. I thought a constitutional amendment was passed after the 2004 elections in Georgia??

  3. Shasta, it was. That ammendment also outlaws Civil Unions. This is just another example of people trying to make it known that they are bigots, for example, when the Cobb county board of commissioners passed an ordiance that gay people aren't allowed in the county. They knew they couldn't keep gay people out, but they wanted to wear their ignorance with pride. The funny thing is that the ordinance resulted in the county losing money.

  5. Tyler Green should kniow that Roger Kimball's heterosexualization of Rauschenberg is no surprise. "The New Criterion" is home to a pack of terrified clsoet queens -- one of whom I knew several years back. He was more terrified of his bosses knowing he was gay than he was dying of AIDS. Needless to say, he died of AIDS.

  6. That Jamaican Prime minister is as ugly on the outside as he is on the inside. He and the residents of that fucked up country will learn that no gays=no $$$$. Fuck em.

  7. Is it just me, or is John Mayer an attention whore?

  8. Poor Statham. Are they sure those marks aren't from the razor he used to remove all of his body hair?

  9. I just read the article about the Georgia congressman who is wanting to introduce a ban, and it is not at the state level as Andy states, the article says it's at the national level, right? However, thankfully, I don't think it has a chance of passing.

  10. "Con man Sonoma County, California attempts to stake claim as same-sex marriage destination."

And what is the "con" in the inns and other businesses of Sonoma freely advertising their desire for gay & lesbian business? Sonoma County is where the Russian River resort area is, which is San Francisco's equivalent of Fire Island, P-town, Palm Springs, etc., and has been for several decades.

The River area is exceptionally gay-friendly, and hosts TWO "Women's Weekend" celebrations each year, plus "Lazy Bear" and other gay-themed events. It's also the home of one of the larger orders of Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, and has a disproportionately-large representation at international leather contests. Sonoma County has also hosted a Pride Parade for nearly two decades that I know of. I don't have a job in the industry, but as a former leather titleholder from the Russian River area, I can tell you my partner and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, so the implication that Sonoma County businesses are trying to pull a "con" job irks me to no end.

  12. Send a letter of support to Sen. Ted Kennedy? You must be kidding. I am from Washington DC and used to see him all the time. He was the biggest drunken filthy
alcoholic that Congress has ever seen. He should have been kicked out decades ago.

  13. THANK YOU "YOU MUST BE KIDDING"! EVERYONE WHO FEELS ANY SYMPATHY FOR THIS JERK SHOULD READ UP ON THE DEATH OF MARY JO KOPECHNE.

BRIEFLY, SHE WAS A CAMPAIGN WORKER WHO WAS DEVOTED TO BOBBY KENNEDY. AFTER HE WAS ASSASINATED SHE WAS DISTRAUGHT. THIS PIG TOOK HER TO A PARTY AND GOT ALL FUCKED UP. I GUESS WHEN HE DECIDED IT WAS TIME TO FUCK HER HE DROVE RIGHT OFF A BRIDGE ON HIS WAY TO HIS HOUSE.

THIS IS WHERE IT GETS GOOD/MESSY. HE SWAM AWAY FROM THE WRECK LEAVING HER IN THE CAR. HE THEN WENT BACK TO THE PARTY AND GOT TWO CAMPAIGN FIXERS TO GO BACK TO THE SCENE. THEN HE SWAM AWAY BACK TO HIS PVT BEACH AND HID OUT UNTIL HIS "PEOPLE" ARRANGED WITH THE LOCAL POLICE CHIEF FOR HIM TO BE CHARGED WITH LEAVING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT!

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE. HE THEN GAVE A PRESS CONFERENCE TIMED TO MAKE SURE THE PAPERS WOULDN'T HAVE TIME TO PRINT IT BEFORE THE WEEKEND SO PEOPLE COULDN'T HAVE TIME TO DIGEST WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THEN THIS PIG SHOWED UP AT HER FUNERAL IN A NECK BRACE FROM HIS INJURIES IN THE ACCIDENT. OH BUT WAIT, REPORTERS HAD SEEN HIM PLAYING FOOTBALL AND FLYING KITES AFTER THE DEATH RIDE!

AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE THAT RAPE THING WITH HIS NEPHEW.

THIS IS ALOS THE MAN WHO SAYS SUPERDELEGATES MUST VOTE WITH THEIR CONSTITUENTS, BUT NOT HIM OR JOHN KERRY. YOU SEE, THEY'RE BOTH FROM MA. WHICH HILLARY WON BUT THAT DOESN'T COUNT BECAUSE OBAMA HAS BETTER MORALS THAN HER.

    HE WOULD KNOW.

    FUCK THIS MURDERER.

  14. The NY Times and many other American newspapers have often been too decorous in identifying their obituaries as those of gay people, but it is incorrect of Tyler Green to claim that "Kimmelman's queasy reference to Jasper Johns, Rauschenberg, and 'the intimacy of their relationship' was the closest the Times came to acknowledging that Rauschenberg was gay" when the Times obit does include this: "During the spring of 1950 he and Ms. Weil married. The marriage lasted two years, during which they had a son, Christopher, who survives him, along with Mr. Rauschenberg’s companion, Darryl Pottorf." This is more acknowledgment of homosexuality than they gave to Susan Sontag, among many others.
