Olbermann Slams Bush, the Iraq War, and His Golf Sacrifice Lies

In one of his most searing "Special Comments" in recent memory, Keith Olbermann takes apart Bush's interview with Politico in which he said that he had sacrificed playing golf for the war in Iraq.
That statement turns out to be a lie, and Olbermann exposes it, noting, as many bloggers pointed out yesterday, that Bush was playing golf a good two months after he claims he had stopped playing.
Watch it, AFTER THE JUMP...

I was looking forward to his special commentary all through his show and he did not disappoint. Another home run for my next daddy, Keith O.

Watch the documentary "No End in Sight"--the part where Sergio de Mello is killed in a bombing of the UN headquarters in Baghdad -- the part where armless and headless bodies are being lined up on the grass -- and then think about George Bush being pulled of the green.

I just read on another site that it's your birthday Andy, so here's wishing you a great day, and many more to come.

Yes it is. Thanks, Cadence!

Ah, a Taurus, Andy. They're some tough motha'.... Happy Birthday! You sure gave me something to do every work day besides some boring work. Thanks.
Bush is a disgrace to his father and grandfather and all of New England...for the last 350 years.

I'm glad that someone in the mainstream has picked up on Bush's outrageous comment that giving up golf is his sacrifice. I hope this continues to rattle around for a while. The arrogance is astounding......
Olberman's comment about people celebrating Bush's departure on Jan 20, 2009 makes me wonder if a big crowd will form in front of the White House and heckle him as he leaves.

Bush the biggest joke of all time, and, McCain emulating him for the right wing vote, disgusting.

I am hoping that tonight he brings up Bush's "nazi sympathizer" comment in reference to Obama.
The sh@t could so hit the fan. PRESCOT BUSH, George Bush's grandfather "Hitler's banker" had property and money confiscated by the FDR administration because he laundered and funneled money to and between the nazis. PRESCOT BUSH also ended up making close to $1,000,000 profit from dealing with the AUSHWITZ death camp. On top of that Prescot Bush, George's grandfather was part of a coup attempt to overthrow the govt of FDR and instate a facist regieme in america. The General that they approached turned informant and the whole fascist coup attempt that George's Grandfather was a part of was brought to not.

That commentary should be required viewing for all Americans. Bravo, Mr Olbermann.

Damn, JIMMYBOYO, I forgot you'd mentioned before that Prescot Bush was mixed up with the Nazis. Damn. Well, then, the whole Bush family is a disgrace to New England. I wonder if they were the ones burning the feminists/womenists back in Salem.

Keith Olbermann is definitely be on some bigger channels. Somebody had to say it and the Bush interview was quite horrible. Although I was worried that Keith's head might exploded, I wonder what the blood pressure on this guy is.
Other than that, I know how this is aimed towards Bush, but did Keith really thinks Bush would understand what he's saying? It'd be like talking to a tree.
Oh and Happy Birthday Andy! Thanks for your great site.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDY!!

Happy B-day Andy
Yeah Derrick. The Bush's are scandelous. The only reason prescot Bush the grandad didn't end up before a firing squad for treason was because the coup attempt had many of the most powerful and wealthy families in america involved. FDR had to compromise or send the economy into a tail spin by shooting a bunch of uindistry heads for high treason.
One doesn't have to wonder why Bush has been so gung ho about overturning even basic FDR enacted protections and regulations. 1 for example that Bush overturned would have prevented the entire mortgage banking crap. The Bush's HATE FDR and the new deal because FDR busted their nazi traitor asses

I feel the one point which many commentators overlook, particularly when the RIGHT says "hey you voted for the war"! The only reason Congress and the Senate voted for the was, aside from the dubious papers and information, was because the Right wingnut hawks WRAPPED THE WAR IN THE US FLAG AND PATRIOTISM!! The overwhelming pressure for everyone to vote was insurmountable due to the fact that if they did not they were ridiculed as being UN-American and UN-Patriotic! Given the fact that all this occurred following 9/11..... I would never blame Obama or Clinton or any elected person in congress for that vote - due to the manipulation exerted from the Right Wing and the administration (ROVE) .... think about it how would a congressman from the deep south or the west or the conservative mid west NOT VOTE in favor of the resolution??? When you wrap anything in the flag or in nationalism you can achieve your end. Look at Nazi Germany - it was all about Nationalism, and the same for Japan... Rove knew it, Cheney knew it and their stooge Bush simply followed their orders.... So today whenever i see one of those aholes wearing a Flag pin on their lapel it makes me want to vomit to know that they have abused that symbol so much that today we have over 4100 dead from their treachery, and that the world looks upon us with such disdain and hatred that we will live with the results for decades to come! This man Bush will never live this down and his legacy will be burdened on his grandchildren for centuries, just as Aaron Burr, or John Wilkes Booth or even Lee Harvey Oswald families have - names which no American can forget or forgive!!

Wow! That is so awesome. Just the way I think about this Bush presidency and the war.
The only thing I might add is that Bush also killed over a hundred thousand innocent Iraqi and Afghanistani citizens over this aimless war.

Calling it like it is, with substance. Just like Bill O'Reilly!
And Happy Birthday, Andy. We have something in common, except your year is slightly more recent than mine, bitch ;-)

I thought Mr. Olbermann was about to have an on-screen aneurism during his rant. While he made some valid points, I thought some of his complaints were presented out of context. And if Mr. Olbermann lived in the civil rights-challenged nation he thinks he does, he would have been on the recieving-end of several well-swung rifles butts he richly-deserves.
The question for MSNBC is can they continue to have a so-strongly declared partisan anchoring a political "news" program. From now-on it's reasonable to assume that his program is merely a free 60-min. political ad for the Democratic party if he continues as-is.

Hey, KEVIN: you know you had some of us running to Google "Mikhail Bulgakov". I hope Andy's career will be a lot happier than Mr Bulgakov. I know his life will. Still, interesting and brave guy--that Mikhail Bulgakov.
Happy Birthday, Ernie.

Happy B-day Andy, hope you are having a fun day.
Every night, when I watch Countdown, it renews my faith in people. Mr. Olberman is not only authentic but heroic, I applaud his take on the President, and his use of the strongest language to date. We the American people deserve such respect. Thank you Keith.

Happy Birthday Andy!!!
What confounds me is that the American public seems to pretty much ignore these facts. Are we that fricken dense?
But I suppose the media and Democratic Congress have played their parts in this by not asking for the skewered skulls of the 3-headed monster known as Rove-Bush-Cheney on the proverbial platter.
And I heart Keith. A lot. Like I wanna marry him and stuff.

What has Olbermann said here that he hasn't said a thousand times before. He's becoming a tendentious bore just like right-wing commentators. He's also annoying unprofessional. He should have guest commentators come on to do opinion pieces. Christopher Hitchens or anyone from the NY Times would do much better.
Posted by: anon | May 15, 2008 1:16:29 PM
ANON
Christohpoer Hitchens is a cool atheist, but he supports the Iraq war 100% still and thinks Bushco will be vindicated.

Ah! I always forget Andy's b'day is after mine! Every year. I guess I'm too self-centered to realize other Taureans exist haha. Happy birthday Andy! And to your friend Ernie, Kevin! I'm sure he's an awesome guy, as I've never met a fellow Taurus I didn't like. :-)

Damn Olberman's gonna get audited big time now for sure. Glad I'm not him. Ballsy.

Keith Olbermann is neither authentic or heroic -- what an asinine comment. So there's a picture of Bush playing golf two months after he said he gave it up. How many more are there? Does it make more sense that the purpose of his giving up golf was a self-realization that didn't come overnight? What is so mind-boggling about the sentiment behind his sacrifice? Seriously, Olbermann is about as respectable a news reporter as someone from Inquirer or Star Magazine. And to watch him every night is akin to brainwash; he's bafflingly un-insightful and partisan. I'd rather watch Dan Rather.

Nice try, robert, but I'd hardly consider a semantical mix-up by Obama with the out-and-out BRAZEN lies and arrogance of the Busheviks as somehow comparable in any way. But, LCRs always find a way to justify loving their Republican daddys.

Hey, JIMMYBOYO...did a little amateur research on Prescot Bush. He didn't seem so bad. He didn't seem to be involved with the Union Bank's association with the Nazis. He was also part of the "moderate" wing of the Republican Party and supported Civil Rights. Prescot's father, Samuel Bush, was a somewhat progressive Democrat. So, the Bush's weren't all that bad till the coming of Bush the Idiot (with the exaggerated Texas accent).
Well, so much for the history lesson. I still say, Bush the Idiot aint no where near the man that his grand-father was.
And I aint being "intellectually dishonest" today, ABRACADAVER --I said, "amateur research".
