Focus on the Family's James Dobson Shifts Position on McCain

Focus on the Family leader James Dobson, who has said that he cannot endorse John McCain because of McCain's positions on embryonic stem cell research and opposition to a federal amendment banning same-sex marriage, may yet endorse him, he told the AP:

Dobson"There's nothing dishonorable in a person rethinking his or her positions, especially in a constantly changing political context. Barack Obama contradicts and threatens everything I believe about the institution of the family and what is best for the nation. His radical positions on life, marriage and national security force me to reevaluate the candidacy of our only other choice, John McCain."

Why is he changing his mind? There's no one else to choose from. Dobson also has concerns about McCain's temper and foul mouth.

In June, Dobson slammed Obama for what he called the candidate's "fruitcake interpretation" of the Constitution.

  2. Does Falwell's passing make Jimmy the biggest laughable gasbag on earth or does that honor still belong to the Pope?

  5. Dobson is forbidden to endorse anyone through Focus on the Family because of his group's tax-exempt status. It's repulsive that he does so as a "private citizen" since FotF derives most of its political power from him. There is no real difference between an endorsement from Dobson and one from his foundation. Here we have another power-hungry scumbag using legal loopholes to manipulate the election process.

I'd be truly furious with him if he wasn't so great at giving me those secret blowjobs.

  6. Well I read "Newsweek" and it's more Blame-the-victim crap, made worse by claiming that it isn't.

We're all supposed to feel sorry for poor poor Brandon.

  8. "Barack Obama contradicts and threatens everything I believe about the institution of the family and what is best for the nation."

If James Dobson thinks this, Obama must be doing something right!

  9. You're asking why Dobson is flapping his lips *now*... MSNBC said today that it could be because of the agreement reached between Obama and McSlimey to appear *TOGETHER* Aug 16 at Warren's Saddleback Church in Lake Forest CA (22,000 member megachurch).

Seems that Dobson feels left out... needs to open up his raincoat... needs to open his piehole... needs to be The One tappin' his foot...

  10. This is why I never got excited one bit over Rev. Dobson's previous remarks about McCain. And regarding this being his endorsement as a "private citizen," in every article you read about him, in every television and radio appearance, he is linked to FotF. He is the founder, the face, the voice, and the driving force behind the organization. His endorsement of or campaigning against any specific candidates should be grounds for declassifying FotF as tax-exempt. It is a think line, no doubt, but he crosses it with the intent of swaying FotF's membership.
Of course, that is my opinion, and the IRS won't change the group's status until public opinion forces them to. And so long as the msm fears his influence, that sadly won't happen.
