Clay Aiken: Yes, I'm Gay

He did it.
"I cannot raise a child to lie or hide things."
This is all we've got for the moment. I'll update this when there's an article posted at People. They say they'll have something up tomorrow at 7am.

Well, I think he makes a beautiful lesbian.

I didn't have to use my gaydar to know that he is gay...Kathy Griffin is going to feast on this...
KG: I told you so...

So do you, Crispy. So do you.

Two articles, same story, different scans. The story looks legit.

Could this be a spoof? Not up on People's website.

Ricky Martin... anything you'd like to add to this convo?

BTW, what do people think about Clay quoting Ellen's coming out blurb on People?
Posted by: Philip Wester | Sep 23, 2008 6:09:47 PM
Whoopty-fuckin'-do! He's still gross and the baby is not cute. And now he's going to capitalize on his new gay fame by touring the country touting his new book 'Clay Gaykin: Once lost but now found'. He's a douche and will always be one.

**crickets**
This is about as big a surprise as hearing that you're having turkey for Thanksgiving dinner.
But what the heck, good for him and the baby.

Not surprising, but awesome for him to come out. Affirmations are good for the soul.

I would guess that Clay Aiken's fans are, for the most part, a conservative bunch. If so, his coming out provides an opportunity for him to educate people who would have otherwise not given the gay community a chance. Let's hope he rises to that occasion and doesn't go all Lance "I'm not going to become a crazy gay activist" Bass on us.

GOOD FOR CLAY
Now as long as he doesn't endorse John McCain he is welcome to my house anytime.
Posted by: RJP3 | Sep 23, 2008 6:25:32 PM
i'm with Seth. i know i've heard the name many times before (probably from Kathy Griffin), but who is he and why do we care he's come out? is he one of those american idol people?
Posted by: le_sacre | Sep 23, 2008 6:36:29 PM
I am a huge Clay fan, and i am happy for him. He finally did it.
Posted by: SONNIE | Sep 23, 2008 6:36:37 PM
Wonder how much he got paid for stating the obvious.
Posted by: Paul R | Sep 23, 2008 6:38:27 PM
Wow, the kid's mother is 50?? That blows my mind.
Also, Ellen's comment was Yep, I'm Gay. A huge difference there...
Posted by: Paul R | Sep 23, 2008 6:43:34 PM
Andy, did you have to use a scan of the People cover with Perez Hilton's logo on it?
Posted by: RJ | Sep 23, 2008 6:56:03 PM
Wait where is the story again?
Aduh of course he's gay! I know America "voted" for Bush twice but we aren't that dumb!
Posted by: GMichael | Sep 23, 2008 7:10:42 PM
Slow news day Andy.
As for all the praise, lets not forget that he lied and denied it for years, all because of fear of losing money from those right wing Christian teeny boppers. Doing so was feeding into the lie that there is something wrong with being gay. I can't wait to hear the reason why he chose now. Maybe someone was going to blow, cough cough, his cover.

Who knew!?!?!?
Posted by: Anokie | Sep 23, 2008 7:20:39 PM
PATRICK, it's never too late! We may say "duh" but trust me, most people still don't know the Village People were a gay act.
That popping sound you hear is 8 million pairs of mom-jeans being shat.
It's never too late. Good for Clay.
And a single, gay daddy by surrogate. That other popping sound? Sarah Palin's head just exploded.
Posted by: Barcolet | Sep 23, 2008 7:26:36 PM
That does it. I'm voting against Obama because of this glaring example bisexual double standard...or whatever.
Posted by: MAJeff | Sep 23, 2008 7:26:43 PM
You would never know to look at his hair and eyebrow styling. He looks more like a Lesbian.
Posted by: aching for Aiken | Sep 23, 2008 7:38:41 PM
That's right, MAJEFF! Clay Aiken only got the cover of people because she's a hot lesbian babe! You know Obama was behind this all the time.
Down with the insidious liberal bisexual double standard!

Wait...let me check--NOPE, the give-a-shit meter failed to register.
