  1. McCain supporters have become a laughing stock. Maybe they should be angry with McCain, a man who voted with Bush 90% of the time. Bush is the man whose laissez faire attitude to economics has helped to create the current financial crisis.

Memo to McCain supporters: stop being so dumb.

  2. The people on the sidewalk to nowhere reminded me of this Sinclair Lewis quote: "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross."

BTW Governor Palin, I did not find that quote on a Starbuck's cup.

  3. I was watching The Colbert Report just moment ago and had to agree 100% with what guest, CNN's David Gergen said: McCain has to get his base under control. Allowing hateful comments to become the centerpiece of his campaign (by his supporters) is the absolute worst thing he can do. And Palin, who is very good at stirring up hate with her attacks, needs to be taken under control. She is hurting him.

And, McCain needs to regain control of his campaign. I have little doubt that he doesn't support much of what's being said by his supporters at those rallies (i.e. "Kill him!") McCain's actually a very decent guy. But Palin he's allowed incendiary remarks by Palin stir up a base that is only hurting him. And he's too weak to take get her and his campaign under control.

    Too bad.

  4. I almost feel sorry for Tucker. What a tool.

  5. Feel sorry for Tucker...? Really? I'd take pleasure in belting him in the mouth..just once..not a knock down drag out...just one punch...he's a DOUCHE!

  6. I think you're all missing the point: McCain's campaign WANTS to get people filled with hate and fear! This is how the GOP operates!

The GOP has a 40 year history of using racism and homophobia to win votes!!! Nixon did it 1968. Reagan did it in 1980 and George H.W. Bush did it in 1988.

For all that is holy, please stop and take a look at the hatred that the GOP used in 2004 against gays to get people scared enough to run to the polls to vote for anti-gay legislation!! This is no different!

Should we be outraged? Yes? But shocked? NO!!!

The next time some Republican troll like the Queen, Jason, etc., starts spouting his crap point this stuff out to him! Shove his face in this shit and say bad, bad, bad Republican!

If anyone doubts that the Republicans wouldn't attack a nice, white gay guy with the same level of hatred, think again! This is how the GOP works. All those gay Republicans in the Log Cabin are part of the machine that makes the hateful wheels spin.

McCain and Palin will say and do anything to win. They don't care if someone gets hurts. This is about winning!

  7. Psst! I heard from a friend whose uncle works in the Secret Service that McCain wets the bed. Pass it on.

  8. "More hate from misinformed supporters outside a McCain-Palin rally"

misinformed McCain supporters ... misinformed Obama supporters - all the same...

  9. Well I for one found this rather amusing in that why on earth would obama supporters picket a mccain rally. Seems pretty dumb to me. And I’m not surprised at the results. What on earth did they expect.

As for anyone here registering shock at the vehement and angry responses from the mccain people why I find them no different than the reaction I and others have gotten here for expressing different opinions.

And to the Noahs on this blog, I’m not republican I just don’t toe the party line around here and for that reason I’m beginning to be censored for what is not hate speech but just expressing my opinions and observations. I've even been accused of trying to get people to stop donating money to pro gay marriage groups which is so ridiculous i don't even know where to begin on that one.

I know I’m pissing in the wind here but some of you don’t seem to get it that but just because somebody disagrees with you does not necessarily mean they hate you. All this stop the hate stuff I find quite extreme and embarrassing. I’ve often spoken to people who do not agree with me and find they do not hate me, they just believe passionately in what they believe in for whatever religious, social, and economic reasons. Talk to some of them and get to know them. It’s really very interesting. and that’s it for now, kids.

  10. The Queen, if you posted more like what you just did, people wouldn't be so upset. It the stupid posts in which you play some character, The Queen and The Duchess, or when you MOCK Matthew Shepherds death, or call us "silly f^%%^ts", those are the posts that are uncalled for in this forum. If you continue to post with rational and mature language as above, then I more then welcome your comments. It was nice to finally read your TRUE voice and opinions. Thanks for that :).

  11. My, my...they have the same style of ugliness that they (or their parents) had in the 1960s protesting against Dr. King.

Joe Sixpack, please...more like Joe Six Cases. How many of those bigots do you suppose support civil rights for gay people?

  12. dahling, cj, 'tho i appreciate your remarks i will not apologize for posting as the queen or with the countess or whomever i choose because that is all in good fun. we cannot take ourselves too seriously, believe me. i have been taken to task for doing this by people here who do not know me and have surmised all kinds of sad scenarios about my life that though wrong i find truly amusing. They think me outdated, a relic of the past, etc. but to me they are just cultural fascists and the loss is theirs if they cannot appreciate imagination, creativity, and wit of which there is a plenty among the younger generation as well as the old.

I most certainly did NOT mock Sheppard's death! I only asked some questions wondering what really happened. I had read some articles featuring the killers' story and found it interesting, and it made me think about my own personal close calls. i can only draw on my own personal experiences and the experiences of others to know that things are not always so cut and dried in the gay world. there are always 2 sides to every story. i knew i was stepping on a land mine when i attempted to start that dialogue but one takes one chances in this world, doesn't one.

as for the use of "fags" sorry if that offends you, but i only use it in the same spirit that black people use the "n" world amongst themselves. perhaps miss derrick has some choice comments about that.

  13. I couldn't listen to the entire 5 minutes of ignorance outside the rally but note that "Commie Faggots!" (Archie Bunker is alive and well, apparently) was one of the things shouted. In other words, the hatred towards "terrorist" Obama is, no surprise, also hatred towards us. It was refreshing to watch a cool and reasonable Andrea Mitchell call Tool Tucker on the endless McCain bullshit.

"All this stop the hate stuff I find quite extreme and embarrassing." Sorry, Queen, it's the hatred--the kind in evidence at McCain/Palin rallies and fueled by the candidates themselves--that is extreme and embarrassing. People who legitimately disagree don't need to spew lies based on paranoia, racism, and fear of anything interpreted as other. Passionate people make arguments. Hateful people shout threats. Learn the difference.

  14. The Foolish, Cruel Queen,

You're ridiculous. This isn't a case about not following the "party line."

You've been a cheerleader of McCain & Palin. Two people who are against the interests of gays. Two people who are now engaging in race-baiting. Two people who have a lot of dirty laundry of their own but who act as if they are above reproach.

McCain SUPPORTS Proposition 8. He has always opposed any legislation to codify civil rights for gays. He has always voted against hate crimes legislation to protect gays!

Get it? Laws to protect gay people from discrimination at work and housing matters!

You think this is some kind of joke? Tell it to the gay dad who gets fired from work because the boss doesn't like gays. How fun for him to go home and have to worry how he'll have to pay the mortgage or put food on the table or pay tuition for his kids.

Why don't you go tell the gay kid who's bullied physically and psychology at school that he should hope people like John McCain and Sarah Palin argue against hate crime and anti-bullying legislation because it will give gays "special rights" will be great elected officials even though their history proves otherwise.

    Hee, ha, ha! F*ck you!

Sarah Palin talking about "palling around with terrorists"? Has she looked at her husband who was a member of the anti-American, secessionist Alaska Independence Party for 7 Years?

I don't find you to be a cultural relic. I find you to be just another nitwit, self-centered idiot whose creativity is cliched. You also show an utter lack of respect for women when you make comments about tampons and such. It's not funny.

As for your questioning the circumstances of Matthew Shepard's death using thoroughly debunked rumors is disgusting, what kind of person are you?

Matthew Shepard was not just brutally murdered, he was lynched! He was literally and figuratively the strange fruit left hanging.

  17. Having reached the end of my tolerance for lazy, dimwitted attention-seeking yesterday, I now remind myself of two things whenever I see a post from The Queen:

    1) She lives in California, so her vote is worthless.

    2) Progress happens one death at a time.

    Posted by: 24play | Oct 10, 2008 12:17:15 PM

  18. QUEEN, please just give it a rest. Your remarks rarely come across as genuine, nor do you seem intellectually curious enough to really be playing devil's advocate. Much of what you spout is unnecessarily controversial. You're like a police officer using entrapment to catch people out; we wouldn't react half as badly if you didn't write such ridiculous stuff. Saying things just to get attention and rile people up is behaviour best left to high school students.

  19. One thing.

Since it was the issue of the election which caused the rift between THE QUEEN and many Towleroad regulars (also caused THE QUEEN to go in an ultra sarcastic/casually caustic mode of defense), I tried to remember what THE QUEEN has had to say about Barack Obama. I even went to the Towleroad archives to see if there were any real awful things said about Barack). The worst I could find was THE QUEEN condemning Barack for not choosing Senator Clinton as his runningmate. That was at about the same time that THE QUEEN became more cynical about the election. The arrival of (and THE QUEEN'S support of) Sarah Palin just put the icing on this bitter cake.

Yes, THE QUEEN's comments on the election are often meant to incite and ridicule the seriousness of it all, but let's not get carried away here--telling an older gay person that they have no value as a human being. You can't run away from your history...or throw it away...or hide it.

Good God, it's not like we're dealing with Strom Thurmond in drag.

You aint related to him, are ya', darlin'?

  22. hello derrick my dahling... no, darling not related to strom at all... maybe to whatshername, the one that was on the phone all the time, droppin' the tea... you remember? i can't remember her name....anyway you crack me up as always, baby...

thanks for your support honey -- love ya and always will...

yes, it's true that i think obama made a big mistake not choosing hillary and i'm gonna leave it at that. i've ruffled too many feathers around here to say more ...

as for l'affaire palin i guess i have to repeat what i've said before is that i do not support her but find her a fascinating political figure and she very well may be an historic one as well ... i personally feel (though i do not share her politics) that she appeals to many people in this country for reasons which are unfathomable to us as liberals, gays, or whatever... so for some reason i believe that the republicans will win. i know this has upset many people here, but there it is. there are just too many variables in the pot right now and with the economy in the toilet and the possibility (some say it's already here) of a depression.. well, you know what happens historically, the minorities get bitten in the ass, don't they...

as for inciting controversy here, hell i've done that all my life... even on stage... (you should have heard some of the things i used to say when i emceed!!!) i'm outside the mainstream babe, even in gay life, i was always on the outside so i'm used to being misunderstood...

as for the wishes for my demise, hell i've been cursed by the best, even a witch or two and i'm still here... (knocking on wood LOL!)

  23. Perhaps it is their diet of sugar, oil and dough or the simplistic upbringing of television and religion that curdles them to promote the idea that some are less than human and expendable.

Yes, all us commie pinko faggot terrorists are considered less than their 'red blooded American male' ideal of what is 'normal', they would rather destroy than investigate.

Fascism can happen anywhere. Wake up and see what is going on around you. The people that they put in camps have to be demonized first.

The Republicans act as if they should always be in power and I would put nothing past them in achieving that goal. Chads in '00 and Dibold machines in '04.

Good luck USA! Time to do the right thing.
