Michael Phelps Gets Wet But not Undressed for Sports Illustrated

Phelps was photographed underwater in a tuxedo for the magazine (see behind-the-scenes video), which named him 'Sportsman of the Year'. Apparently with that honor you also get a clunky Photoshop facelift.

Yeah, he's an amazingly adept speed-swimmer. Good for him. But SPORTSman of the year? Pssh, it's not a sport, silly.

Ok so Michael may not be a heartthrob to everyone in the Community, he's polite, in shape, and an amazing athlete. Would i date him even with his russian-esque eyebrows and big hands? You bet. Admittedly, i don't know his position on Prop-8, he's not cast any hateful comments against the GLBT community that i'm aware of, and i'd be embarassed to know he read some of these unkind comments. Lighten up people.

Such a judgemental group. He's a world-class athlete who also seems like one hell of a nice guy. And he'll probably make $100 million + in his career.

SOMEOTHERKEVIN, swimming is not a sport? I assume you did have a grade school education, right?
The nastiness of so many of these postings makes me think I'm reading the comments section of a typical Perez Hilton blog entry, not Towleroad.
And DAN B is right. This is Sports Illustrated, not Playgirl. And it seems to me that MIKEINSANJOSE isn't the only person here who has cast aspersions and posted ignorant remarks, yet never bothered to actually read the accompanying SI article.
