Man Arrested After Rushing Britney Spears at CT Concert

20-year-old Kyle King described himself as "amused" on his MySpace page two days after being arrested for jumping on stage at the Mohegan Sun resort during the Britney Spears concert Saturday night.

TMZ reports: "Connecticut State Police say they arrested 20-year-old Kyle King -- who they say had definitely been drinking -- after he charged on stage during Britney's encore performance of 'Womanizer.' Security and Brit's backup dancers were able to stop King before he could come in contact with Spears -- and he was arrested for breach of peace. The CSP says after King was taken into custody, he was being highly uncooperative -- so they also booked him for interfering with police. He was released this morning after paying a $250 bond and is due in Norwich Superior Court on June 18."

Maybe slightly less idiotic than thinking the polar bears at the zoo are going to play with you, but not much. King is running the TMZ article and an animated gif of the encounter on his MySpace page, on which he says he is gay. Watch the encounter (at about 2:15) which clearly startles and angers Britney,

  1. "Gay fan"? So is Bill O'Reilly interning at Towleroad this week? I can't imagine how else you came up with that descriptive title otherwise.

  3. How else to describe a male Britney fan than "gay"? Other than "clueless"?

  5. Yeah, this is embarassing. He's lucky they didn't taser his stupid ass. NOBODY touches Britney!

However, I'd totally fuck him. I love twinky blonde ass.

  6. Boring - looks like she is phoning the performance in - and then all of a sudden real emotion - FEAR - a little scary - I feel sorry for her.

  7. Not that I ever thought BS sang live, but...did the mic even pick up her telling the guy to back off?

  8. 20 year old male storms the stage at a Britney Spears concert? Oh that is just... sad. Cute, but so... very... sad.

What was worse is, he was coerced by his mom to do it.

  9. Michael - no, her mic is turned off during performances.

  10. What an idiot. Who would be stupid enough to startle a bipolar person brandishing a weapon?
It was nice to see Brits suddenly wake up from her haze though.

  12. He is not the first and wont be the last. But what's up with Brit following the moves of her dancers? does she not know her routine?

  13. All I can say is that his boyfriend is absolutely, mouthwateringly gorgeous.

  14. There was a time when gay men were considered cultural authorities and arbiters of good taste. The popularity of Britney Spears among a generation of gay men proves that gay cultural sophistication is no longer the case.

  15. too funny. you can see her screaming "oh my god get away get away..." but you can't hear it cuz her mic's not on. (duh.)

  16. a production reminiscent of a George A. Romero movie

  17. People pay money to see that? That could have been anybody on that stage dressed as a slutty cop (by the way, way to show props to female law enforcement everywhere, you've come a long way, Brits...)

  18. Maybe he thought they were doing another one of these stupid HSM3-style commercials for Mohegan Sun, and he just wanted to be in it.

More importantly, though: Is La Spears getting chunky, again?

    Posted by: Hugo | May 4, 2009 1:52:43 PM

  19. Exactly, Bill. What people see in Britney is beyond me. Wasn't Milli Vanilli destroyed doing the same thing Britney does?

    Posted by: Mike | May 4, 2009 1:56:37 PM

  20. Someone please leak the mic feed. Her reaction is hilarious. I love how she continues to half-assedly go through the motions. What a trooper!, show?...must go on, right?

    Posted by: mistaketv | May 4, 2009 2:12:56 PM

  21. Ugh, no Mike. Milli Vanilli wasn't guilty of lip-synching per se....they didn't sing a single note on their album. They were lip-synching to studio musicians. Britney may not be the most talented vocalist, but what she is doing is what 99% of artists today do, and what 100% of artists today do on arena tours. Guess you'll have to find some other reason to hate her.

    Posted by: Ugh | May 4, 2009 2:37:17 PM

  22. Yeah, right, UGH. I suppose if your spectrum of music ranges from Lady Gaga to Britney Spears, your statement that "what she is doing is what 99% of artists today do, and what 100% of artists today do on arena tours."

Believe it or not, there are plenty of artists who sing live, maybe write their own songs, even play an instrument. I was at Coachella two weeks ago, saw about twenty performances, and not one act was pulling a Britney-Vanilli.

I have nothing against Britney personally. If she's able to fool people and hurts no one, good on her. But let's be clear: she's selling nothing but cheese'n' crackers.

  23. Cool Mike. Too bad I'm not a Britney fan, and shitty indie bands playing (badly) at Coachelle isn't what I was talking about. I was talking about STADIUM SHOWS, not bunches of rag-tag emo muppets screeching their piteous "lyrics" into the mic while playing the acoustic triangle. That 'music' is about as much shit as Britney's, just with a whole lot of pretension poured on. But "ZOMG, my particular brand of crap is so much better than everyone elses!@"!#@!#!@#" Whatever.

And, um, yeah, still not the same thing as Milli Vanilli. Do are you just pretending you don't get it, or are you actually that stupid?

    Posted by: Ugh | May 4, 2009 3:09:34 PM

  24. UGH: There is no way that 99% of artists 100% lip-synch. Madonna sings live for most of her show, but gets criticized heavily for singing over heavy backing on dance numbers like "Sorry," etc. Granted, more is expected of Madonna, but what, if anything, is expected of Britney? We've heard her live singing voice a handful of times in 10 YEARS. I would respect her more if she sang, but sang badly.

I do agree, though, that many performances people think are live are lip-synched to specially recorded "live" vocals. And I would agree that the majority of live, non-rock acts use some kind of vocal sweetening, backing tracks and/or lipped segments. It's just, nobody out side of Jennifer Lopez has relied on it as heavily and as shamelessly as Britney Spears.

Mike: Lady GaGa does mostly live vocals, just sings over track on a couple of her most thumpin' club numbers. She's far superior to Britney.
