GayMiddleEast.com posts a new interview with Khalid, the first gay Jordanian Idol, about My Kali, the first gay magazine in Jordan, which launched quietly in February 2008. They discuss the magazine, hate crimes in Jordan, gay nightlife in Amman, and the gay community there.

The TV report as well as the magazine are tailor-made for Western and "Westernized" Arabic audiences. Kali says it: "The magazine tells gay people how they should act and be". Meaning: In order to be free and happy, gay Arabs should copy-paste their practices and identities on those in the West.
Gay rights should be fought everywhere, but with a respect and adaptation to local cultures.

i agree with you Diamond, this whole western thing is all over used, but not regarding the gay image, the whole idea of having this magazine is for us to learn more about our situations, our issues and that's what this magazine is, now this model Khalid, is very brave, as rumors on him is flying all over the community, he do project a new well image for gay people to look up to, i mean thank God now we have a a gay celeb!
