  4. Funny how pics of Matt Damon and his wife are surfacing "coincidentally" when the who'd-have-thunk-it gay rumors are really heating up.

  7. It's a rather long story but the rumor and subsequent reveal happened here:

Pretty well-established as these things go. Crispy, sorry no one can offer photographic evidence yet.

  8. Andy, all of the anti-gay marriage signature gatherers across the country are paid. If they are outside a store or a mall or at a busy event -- like a street festival -- they are paid signature gatherers. In Calif, they were paid from $1 to $1.75. If the signature gatherers are at a church event, they might be actual volunteers, but that's doubtful.

  9. Actually some signature gatherers in CA can get up to $4 a signature, depending on the cause. The price spiked under Schwarzenegger, who is usually quite determined to make sure his initiatives pass and has the funds (and friends with funds) to pay ridiculous prices. (I'm not disputing what the marriage gatherers were paid; it varies depending on the cause and backers.) Lately they've been all over SF parks, and they're always in front of grocery stores.

  10. I was bemused when I noticed one of the "we should wait for equality" groups listed as a problem for 2010 that would have to hire paid signature gatherers.

First, I know a large crowd of people who would happily go off to the malls to collect signatures. Second, so what? The other side does it.

  11. Not to mention, John D, that there's no reason to think it would be free in 2012. What a stupid argument.
