Buffalo, NY Woman Has Face, Eye Slashed in Possible Hate Crime

A Buffalo, New York woman was slashed in the eye by a group of attackers on New Year's Eve outside a club in the city's Allentown neighborhood.

WIVB reports: Lindseyharmon "Buffalo Police are investigating an early-morning stabbing outside a club in the Allentown area. A woman was taken to the hospital after she was slashed in the right eye. Police responded to the incident on Main and Allen Streets, outside Club Roxy's just after 2 a.m. Friday. No word on the victim's condition or if an arrest has been made."

There is, word, however, of the victims condition on Facebook, and based on the report there should be hate crime charges here:

"On dec 31st, 2009 my girlfriend lindsay harmon was stabbed by a white female that was walking with a group of 4 black males, and 1 other white female. They were walking down main street in front of roxys complex towards virgina when they decided to harass and assault lindsay, dina, and myself using very hateful words towards gays, and lesbians, while then the situation turning into a physical confrontation. Lindsay was stabbed in the right eye, right cheek, and left arm causing very serious injuries. The girl that did this got away by running with her group of friends down main toward virgina street. Please if anyone has any information or saw even a little bit of what happen that horrific night please contact me @ 716-225-8181...or detective tim rooney @ 716-851-4403. ALSO please send this page out to all friends so that it gets around, and we can catch this person!!!!! Thank you all again for all your support.

"Lindsay was rushed to the hospital at 3am that night, to be followed by surgery later on the next afternoon to her right eye. She had a 9mm slash coming from the top of her eye lid, going into her eye ball. She has stitches in her arm, cheek, top of eye lid, and they repaired the damage to her right eye. Its about a 50/50 shot at her eye sight being completely normal again, but she is already progressing. She can see shadows, and light which is a very good sign. Time will tell, time will heal, the only thing she can do is rest, and be surrounded by love! She is stil same ol lindsay, being a smart ass, and laughing.... We all have 110% faith in her that she will get through this, and be "A" okay! She is in very good hands..PROMISE.....and every little thing means the world to her, and us close...Thank you all again for your support, love, and concerns!

  1. I hope they find who did this, there must have been surveillance cameras somewhere on that street.

  2. I am wishing Lindsay well. If you have information come forward.

Gay people should carry a cell phone with a camera so they can record attacks or harrassment because the vast majority of attacks on gay people are from strangers and it is much more difficult for police to find someone who has no relation to you. Also, witnesses are less likely to come forward if the victim is gay so you need to prepare yourself.

  3. "Gay people should carry a cell phone with a camera..."
cell phone? camera? We should just start carrying guns.

  4. As a member of the community, any Hate Crime is a bad thing, but I think that many should know that the N word has come out of all of these girls mouths. alot of times. and that this is a new spin given to this story that hadnt surfaced in the last 3 days. i hope that is not the case. but you cant be the victim of a hate crime if you were also spewing hate.

  5. Oya--yes the "N"-word is ugly, but Lindsay's attackers did not have to take it to the next level and get physical. Also, she wouldn't have used that ugly word had she not been provoked by those subhuman thugs in the first place.

  6. violence is of course wrong. I just think its interesting that this was hushed up for days ( no real media coverage, which it would have gotten, unless someone was trying to come up with the right angle, or cover up a violent incident at their bar)
Also, the bar is much more then just a lesbian bar, it is a dance club and is often full of swingers and straights, and this poor little girl looks anything but gay, so to think that someone walked by a PACKED front patio and yelled gay slurs, to start a fight, to cut someone is ridiculous. stories are also surfacing that unfortunately, she was walking out AFTER a fight she had gotten into with her gf inside, went outside, saw the assailants and may or may not have offered her opinion on THEIR lifestyle ( blacks and whites doing the nasty together) and it is not the first time that word , the n one,has been thrown around very loosely. hate crime legislation is a real thing and can't be thrown around... thats all im saying. I hope the girl heals well, i hope justice is done. and I hope that hate crime legislation doesnt become something you can just cry wolf about...getting punished for slashing someone is much different than getting extra years tacked on for a hate crime..

  8. The word on street is the girl who was slashed was fighting with her girlfriend in thier car. The 2 women and 4 black men were across the street walking up main street toward down already passing The Club Roxys and not saying a word to any other gay people. Words were said when they saw the girlfriends fighting with each other. They were in or at thier car they show of just left and went home but no . Words were thrown around and in a terrible rag one on the girls came across street to fight the girls and then stab the one girl.. This is not a Hate Crime its a mouthing off CRIME to the wrong people . Thoses people didnt go to Roxys or bother anyone else standing outside. This also happen down the block so the sad truth is theses girls who were in thier car should of went home, you cant throw words to people you dont know on the street. Im sorry but this should be a huge leason to all not just gay people!

  10. I just hope the news gets a copy of the Police report...apparently it was documented as an altercation with both sides using ill advised language. it may have been a hate crime, but seem to be a racist one, not a homophobic one.

  11. Violence is bad. I have heard these same girls say terrible, racist and violent things to many people and I am afraid that the rights we have fought so hard for are being abused to keep the real story hidden. I would like to have the news report on the facts. What does the police report say? Were there any cameras in the area? For anyone who has been on the receiving end of the violent language or behavior of the same girls that are saying they were victims of a hate crime it is very hard to believe that this incident was unprovoked. Any violence should be frowned upon, and hate crimes should be punished - no one should have to be afraid to be themselves. Before we rally around this as a "hate crime," I just really wish there was some solid reporting. If it comes out that this was not in fact a hate crime, it makes it much harder for those people who are attacked purely for their sexual orientation and not because they engaged in a drunken and racially charged brawl.

  12. This is no hate crime I know all the women that go to Roxy's bar including Lindsay Harmon the victim and sad but true all of the lesbians in Lindsay's "click" including the manager and all the staff are very racist among loving to fight and bully, I have been in Roxy's a few times and all of theses women hang out on the porch of this bar yelling at people walking pass the bar acting like they are 15 not 35 its a joke for them to claim Hate-crime to protect the bar and what they started, It is sad that it had to go into a stabbing but Karma is a B**** I hope this helps theses women to grow up and keep there mouths shut.

  13. I am a 36 year old lesbian from Buffalo. I cannot get over how so many of you are trying so hard to redirect this crime somewhere else! You have all this information to share, but none of it that I have seen holds any value! A young woman was stabbed and may or may not regain site in her eye! I feel it is much more important that we help law enforcement find the WHITE female who did this to Lindsay. I don't think it matters what these "group of girls" have said or done in the past, or if Lindsay and her girlfriend were arguing. What matters is working together to find the person(s) involved. Those of you who seem to know so much- If you were there you would know that Lindsay and her girlfriend were out that night with their very close friend who is guess what? BLACK. All of what I am reading just seems to me to be personal issues. This is NOT the time or place. I am so disgusted!

  14. First of all, "the word on the street" is never the full correct story. And weather or not lindsay and nichole were fighting before this happened has NOTHING to do with what this girl did to her. Mayb the "N" word was thrown around, mayb not... but even if it was that does not give some girl the right to stab somebody.. did lindsay pull out a knife when gay slurs were being thrown at her? No. Mayb some of you should stop being so caddy and look at the big picture here, an innocent woman was brutally stabbed, and is making a full recovery. Get your head out of your asses and stop throwing stories around like you know it all.

  15. Sam, just wanted to say you don't know everything and everyone. Most of who you speak of are not racist, they are the biggest minority we have in america... They are GAY!!! See people judging again, how would you like it if I judge you and said you are an imature, uneducated, ignorant person!!!! Does't feel good considering I don't even know you!!!! Stop side trashing the situation at hand a girl got stabbed 3 time....... what if that was your sister or your friend... 2010 lesson don't judge people.

  16. The simple fact is Lindsday was stabbed in the eye, the cheek, & the arm by a white girl, on what is suppose to be one of the happiest days of a persons life. She will never forget this incident for the rest of her life, & may not get back her full eye site. No matter what went down If you were not there don't open your mouth. Would you want people to judge you or an incident based on something that may or maynot happened in your past. This I know only too well! No one deserves to be called names whether it is n.i.g.g.e.r, k.i.k.e, c.r.a.c.k.e.r, t.o.w.e.l h.e.a.d, s.a.n.d-n.i.g.g.e.r, c.a.m.e.l j.o.c.k.e.y, b.e.a.n.e.r, g.o.o.k, c.h.i.n.k, d.y.k.e, or f.a.g, We are all equal!!!!! But in this world, no matter how evolved we think we are it happens, does that mean pull a knife out and stab someone three times. HELL NO!!! Gossip is exactly that gossip. If you have the facts & you were there, you must have an ID on the subject RIGHT!!!! So call detective Rooney help him catch the subjects in question. Otherwise shut up & get a life.

  18. A hate crime is when someone is targeted for being who they are, not when they are called some names because they are willingly in a confrontation w/ other people...If both parties shared in the name-calling, the "hate crime" needs to be taken off the facebook & all else. It is awful what happened. The girl needs to be found..we don't need people like her walking the streets. Lindsay didn't deserve to get stabbed, but if she exchanged words w/ these people, she wasn't an innocent victim & they didn't do this just because she is gay. If she was straight it would have happened too.

  19. You go Jo, and to Sam this had nothing to do with The Club Roxys and staff and people who go to Roxys are not racist, again the girl who stabed lindsay in WHITE AND LINDSAY is WHITE... AND THOSES PEOPLE WERE NOT IN ROXYS OR ON THE SIDE OF THAT STREET IN FACT THEY PASSED ROXYS, THIS IS NOT A RACIST CRIME OR A HATE CRIME, police report says both parties provoked each other, the sad part is the other party had a knife, but people dont fight fair. The girls were in thier car why did they get back out---BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO FIGHT! THATS WHY!!

    Posted by: Lisa | Jan 5, 2010 5:52:05 PM

  20. "the people who go to roxys arent racist" HA. just last year a fight in the bar made it all the way to the street,( which is quite a distance) with roxy's staff shouting 'N*GGGER'

    So there's that.

and since the girl was white, I suppose it is tricky. except we all know the only people racists hate more than N's is N-lovers...

honestly, I think at 3 am everyone was hammered and the reason no one talked about it for days is because everyone had to piece the night together. If I had been the victim of a slashing, I would probably piece it back together feeling as though I had been attacked..

in addition, while no one here has real evidence. No One does. There has been no police report released, no security camera footage. just she said/she she said.

  22. How Racist, you all are talking about the white girls in this act, What about the black males? they were most likely helping in this hate crime.

I'm a white girl from Long island, currently living in Buffalo,
And i would never stab someone!
    im a lesbian.

I wish this girl a fast recovery.

  23. the suspect should be held responsible for the assault with a deadly weapon. That's terrible what happen to the victim. I wish her well. Not a lesbian.

  24. It's scary how dumb some people are. I am a lesbain, from Buffalo and have been to Roxy's many times.

    One: Buffalo is REALLY racist.
Two: if this girl used the N word and the other girl called her a dyke and then stabbed her it is not a hate crime.
Three: Clarifying that this is not a hate crime doesn't mean that stabbing someone isn't a crime. It's just not a hate crime.

    Posted by: dyke | Jan 15, 2010 6:21:15 PM

  25. Also, people keep saying this is a white on white crime. That isn't true. Harmon is orange.
