McGreevey Ex-Wife Comes Out Against Marriage Equality

Speaking for the desperate housewives of New Jersey, former NJ governor Jim McGreevey's ex-wife Dina Matos, told a crowd at the Zonta Club in Mountain Lakes that the legislature was right to reject marriage equality:

Dina “We have the civil union law in place, which I think is wonderful. I was raised a Catholic. I grew up in the church, so I believe in traditional marriage between a man and a woman."

Added Matos: "There are at least two million marriages that break up each year because one of the spouses come out of the closet. You don’t understand unless you live it. When you’re living with someone who has a secret, they take every measure possible to hide it."

What Matos apparently failed to convey to the crowd was that if homosexuality was more accepted in society (i.e. marriage equality), it would spare untold amounts of marriages doomed because the husband is in the closet but suddenly realizes he wants to be openly gay, and after coming out subjects his ex-spouse to years of self doubt.

Ahem.

  2. A traditional marriage is between a man and a woman? This is coming from a woman who used to have threesomes with her husband and other men???

  4. Where do they get these stats? "There are at least two million marriages that break up each year because one of the spouses come out of the closet." Do they pull these numbers out of thin or directly from their Anus?

  9. Yes Dina, New Jersey has a civil rights law which virtually everyone admits is UNEQUAL. And two million marriages a year?!
Just say you're a woman scorned and be done with it.

  10. Am I the only one who thinks it's odd that the last name of this demon witch is the same as the Puerto Rican gay killer in the story immediately prior to this one?

  11. Why is this woman giving speeches to groups of people? What exactly qualifies her as an expert on anything?

  13. or gets married because he wants a life in politics--to be mayor, governor, and maybe even POTUS

Dina, don't blame gay couples who want the same thing you do--love and honesty

  14. The McGreevey's were just a bunch of idiots. Both of them. I had no sympathy for Jim either.

I'm sorry, but she married a politician and probably knew what was up but kept her mouth shut so she can have the prestige of being a lady of importance. McGreevey used her to get elected. Foul people both of them.

I'm not surprised she's against marriage equality. She wouldn't know what a proper marriage was if it showed up and fisted her.

  15. Lol, 2 million marriages? I'm sorry beast, your marriage didn't count as a million.

  17. The woman needs to get off her crying box and find a life. She's not the first woman whose husband was in the closet and she will certainly not be the last. Matos is far from special and why she gets any press at all is beyond me. All she does is boo hoo about poor me instead of telling her story of how she is rebuilding her life. She just misses the perks she had as First Lady of New Jersey. She is rock stupid IMO.

  18. "I was raised Catholic. Therefore I believe in unions between priests and altar boys."

Rot. I am so sick of all the damned phony Catholic moralism.

  19. "I was raised Catholic." Really Dina? 'Cause the Catholic Church I was raised in frowned on marrying after a divorce, and you married a divorced guy. Actually, according the Church you claim to belong to, you were never really married, just in an immoral adulterous sexual relationship AND your daughter is a bastard.

What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

  20. Do Catholic "marriages" include 3-ways with your husband and other men?

Are those the "morals" you stand for, whore?

Get off your soapbox and get a life. And since you're now divorced, you will never be allowed to marry again in your saintly Catholic Church, wench.

  22. "Why do you people want to drink out of the same water fountain?" "You know the back of the bus gets there just as quickly." "You can sing and entertain us, but please come in the back door." "What's wrong with separate but equal?" ( wish i had that new sarcasm glyph!)

these people make our points for us every time they open their mouths. she starts off with the typical religious aspect, not realizing that this is not even close to a religious battle. blahblahblah. i've thought about her enough!

  23. Of course, why should she support same-sex marriage? I mean this woman will go to any lengths to make sure her husband is as miserable as possible. I guess, that includes making him unequal to her.

This woman is a spoiled brat trapped in an adult body.

  24. Dina, just go ahead and order the "I am the face of washed up bitterness" t-shirt and be done with it.

  25. And since when do we pay such great attention to what a mindless bimbo has to say?

This woman is clueless, has been probably since birth. Just another Stepford wife, a jilted one, upset at an entire groud of people for what her lying, closeted exhusband did to her.

There was a time when Catholicism espoused social positions that we find objectionable now. As a fellow Catholic I can share that our faith also centers on the principle that God gave us free will and intellectual independence...when we see something that we know to be unfair, discriminatory and ungodly (like Homophobia and Racism) we are urged by our creator to oppose it, not follow like blind sheep. If Christ returned today he would have choice words for the red Prada shoe wearing pope and his hateful speech as well!
