LA Times Interviews Oscar Co-Producer Adam Shankman

Shankman Openly gay film director/choreographer/So You Think You Can Dance judge and Academy Award co-producer Adam Shankman is featured in a piece by the LA Times leading up to the big show in Hollywood. He reveals a few interesting things about himself, such as what it feels like to put together the Oscars ("It's like living with a 24-hour-a-day panic attack") and how he feels about his appearance ("Yeah, looking good is important to me, because I'm on the market. I am not unaffected by the youth culture of Los Angeles and the pressures of the gay community to look good").

The rest of the article can be found on the LA Times Website.

  1. I've listened to several interviews with Shankman ("Fresh Air with Terry Gross") and read several articles about him, and as much as I really want to like this guy (creative, an "out" gay face in the mainstream, successful beyond his talent potential), he always comes off sounding pretty egotistical with a side order of douchebag. Sorry.

  2. What is accomplished by negative comments? Gays trashing gays.

I dated AS years ago. He is a good guy, smart and talented. You have been seeing his work for years and only in the last couple of years have started to see his name.

His work in Hairspray is fantastic.

  3. ("Yeah, looking good is important to me, because I'm on the market. I am not unaffected by the youth culture of Los Angeles and the pressures of the gay community to look good.")

    Very sad, that.

  5. Actually, he's not an ugly fuck, imposter. He's 45, and I wouldn't want to sleep with him...and I'm sure the feeling would be mutual. On TOP of that, two jews in one bed is a recipe for a bad screw--it's already bad enough when there's just me. I'm sure the interview's a must read, it's just I've got better things to do like alphabetizing the pantry.
