Watch: George W. Bush Wipes Hand on Bill Clinton's Shirt After Shaking Hands with Haitian

Former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton made a joint visit to Haiti this week to survey the earthquake devastation. While there they shook hands with plenty of survivors. Caught on tape was a moment in which Bush shook hands with someone and then wiped his hand off on Bill Clinton's shirt!

Mediaite writes: "The visuals just look bad – an American President shaking hands with a crowd of Haitians, then getting something he deems ‘icky’ and wiping it on the shirt of another American President."

  1. How is this news, exactly? I'd wipe something icky off my hand too. This is a gay website... of all people, we know about wiping nasty stuff off our hands.

  4. Saying that I don’t like Bush is an understatement but to be fair, I don’t see the wiping thingy. Come on guys, don’t exaggerate things out of proportion.

  5. This is a lame non-story, and as much as I think he's a retard, he does nothing of the sort.

  6. really? really, steve? do you think that touching a haitian is icky? what is it about a man that you find 'nasty'? good luck with your website. i am not into self-immolation, sorry queer. and, you are really, really queer and quite a sorry soul.

  7. Look, we all know that Bush is an unintelligent, ridiculous and spiteful buffoon. But are stories like this really necessary? He is quite obviously just wiping off something sticky he got on his hand (a quite natural human reaction).

Yes, it doesn't give off a great image, but this is the exact kind of journalism the far right and teabaggers have been using against anyone who doesn't agree with them. Think of the less than flattering images of Pelosi, Obama and co. used to portray them as elitist by Fox News and right-wing blogs. Andy, please don't bring this blog down to that level by giving these sensationalist articles any credence.

  8. People of all races and creeds can have something icky on their hands. Come on now.

  9. bush did this early on. he wiped his hand on a woman's coat on the letterman show. remember that?

  10. did we really expect any more from him? He's Texas trash and always has been

  11. At least he's there - where are you?

  12. Oh, the irony of Bill C. getting something sticky on his shirt!

  13. Where is the outrage here? The man shook another person's hand and obviously wiped it off on another Presidents' shirt and you guys don't have a problem with it?

I bet if he did that at a hospice in SF there would be a huge uproar.

  14. Yeah, I don't know. I'm not convinced that this shows what the headline says it shows. Aren't there more compelling reasons to think this man is a douche? Like... he's a blathering idiot who can't string three words together, and he's a war criminal who should be tried at the Hague?

  15. What's wrong with it?! Wipe your hands on your own damn shirt is what's wrong with it.

  16. GWB has long been known to have a phobia about germs. At the White House, an aide was assigned to carry Purell for Bush's use after he shook hands.

Maybe he thought Clinton had built up resistance over the years!

  17. he's like an 8-year-old, lil' georgie

    Posted by: zach | Mar 24, 2010 11:36:36 AM

  18. Yeah, and his cronies have been trying to wipe his hands clean all over Obama's shirt for 18 months now.

  19. It happens very quickly, but if you know what to look for, you do see Bush wiping his hand on Clinton's shirt.

How is this news? Well, visibly wiping the hand you used to shake somebody's hand is an insult. When the person whose hand you shook is of a different race, that's a double insult. That Bush did so publicly and nonchalantly while the news cameras were rolling demonstrates once again his lack of decorum.

  20. He couldn't just wipe his hand on his pants? Then again, this is George Bush we are talking about.

    Posted by: ravewulf | Mar 24, 2010 12:12:28 PM

  21. There's an old video somewhere of Bush on the David Letterman show where they're on a commercial break and he cleans his glasses on the hem of a producer's dress who is talking to Dave. Such a class act.

  22. The entire reason Clinton & George H have been visiting Haiti was in part for continue fund-raising efforts to once again aid in the earthquake-stricken nation.

With what just occurred this weekend over the debate over healthcare; especially over Civil rights icon and veteran Rep. John Lewis, D-Georgia.

The Republican's can't just slip this one under the rug. George H was their leader for 8 years. Racism is their.

In the words of bat crazy Kanye West "George Bush doesn't care about black people". In fact the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. (HIS MAMA).

I hope the Spineless Democrats get their "Evelina" together and jump on this" in order to win some seats in November.

Rather than it be a punchline in tonights late night shows.

  23. Bushie Poop is just being Christian. It's their way.

  24. I saw video the other day of GW Bush shaking hands of many Haitians as he made the way through the crowd and didn't keep wiping his hand after every shake. If it were a pattern, I could see the criticism. But this is just making stuff up.

  25. I suspect that this looks worse than it probably was (other than the part where he wipes whatever he felt was on his hands off on Clinton).

I'm kind of reminded here of the public beating that Bush took over that picture of him flying over New Orleans after Katrina.

It was probably best that the resources on the ground not (what few there were at that time) not be diverted to a Presidential visit BUT for Bush to simply flyover at that time did not look good visually at all.
