Well that is freaking awesome. Way to go Gunn High! If some of the hateful adults could just listen to the children...

She makes a very good point that I hadn't even thought of before. Why should 'tolerance' be the goal? We're not here to 'tolerate' each other. We're here to support each other.

That was really great!

Kudos to the Gunn community.

This is actually really close to what my school is doing when WBC comes next week. We're having a BBQ and dance party with live music. We're calling it Love Fest. This school is a total inspiration!

Gunn HS is in Palo Alto, CA, a very gay friendly place: http://guydads.blogspot.com/2010/03/gay-friendly-palo-alto-ca.html
Wow, that's great...it's just, ahhhhhh...I get stabby around hippies.

...and the children shall lead.
This is awesome. Such a wonderful improvement over the kids in Georgia picketing their fellow gay student for wanting to bring his partner to his prom.
Education can be a wonderful thing when not co-opted by crazy conservo-religiosity.

One day the Westboro Fakes Christian group will implode. I do feel very sorry for the children in that sect. I suspect some of them will wise up and reject their "family" values.

Thank you for posting such an uplifting positive video - God Bless those kids!

The Fred Phelps/Westboro Baptist Church group came and protested at the high schools with Gay/Straight Alliances here in the Palm Beach County School District in Florida. They, of course, were not allowed to step on the school campuses. They were given no press, no publicity. They were completely ignored and they went away. Don't you wish they would just go away forever?

See what can happen when the parents, teachers, and administration fosters healthy community values day by day. The students respond and do things like this.

Actually Westboro is kind of a weird blessing for the LGBT community...they provide such an obvious example to the rest of the country of the evil in homophobia...way to go Gunn...maybe Sarah Palin will feature this on her little heart-warming Fox New show (that'll be the day)...

What a magnificent thing it is when love stands up to hate.
If anyone ever tells me again that teens are apathetic, lazy, and selfish, I'll remember this moment - because these young people are awesome!

I was at the WBC protest against the mass gay marriage in DC a few weeks ago. I spit at them, grabbed my crotch along with a couple dozen others. And told them what their bible was really about.
And the leader - I think its shirly Phelps Roper - the smile of hatred went off her face, she doubled up and screamed epithets that actually increased my profanity knowledge. And then they dived into their car and drove away immediately.
They are nothing but a hate group I BROKE THESE SICK PIGS. It can be done.
I only wish - no kidding = that someone who only has a few months to live would come to one of their protests - and do the right thing - send them to hell for real, and become a new American hero.
And its time to end free speech hatred by religion - very broadly baseed restrictions - against minority groups. These people and some like them are nothing but hate groups, mentally ill, and wshould be confined to an institution for life.
BTW, If germany had hate speech laws back in the 1930s, that maniac Hitler, who learned his hatred of Jews from the Catholic church of abuse around the world, would have spent his life in Jail. He would have been unable to leverage that religious hatred to power as his did.
And 50 million would not have died.
Conservative religion, living in the dark ages and demanding absolute power is the horror show of all humanities existance. Islamic, catholic, and extremist protestant as well
