OMD to Release First Album in 14 Years, Offer Free Track

I was pretty jazzed to hear that one of my favorite groups, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, is releasing its first album in 14 years. It's called History of Modern and it's due in the fall, but you can pick up a free unreleased track from 1981 on the group's website to whet your appetite. Who knows what their new sound will be like, but, in any case, a welcome return.

The video for their song "Secret", AFTER THE JUMP...

  2. I called it! I told a friend recently that the 80s groups and sounds would be making a comeback soon. Music is cyclical.

  5. OMD "Crush" is one of the greatest electro pop albums of all time. Good choice.

Begs the question, when are the new Naked Eyes, Howard Jones and Jimmy Somerville albums coming out?

(I can't menion Depeche Mode or a-ha, because both DID have new albums last year!)

  11. Hoping for more of a Junk Culture-esque return. I love that album like crazy (Tesla Girls, Locomotion, Talking Loud and Clear -- so many other good songs). Hopefully they'll stay far clear of crap like (Forever) Live & Die.

Nice to see them back though.
