Watch: Lady Gaga Debuts New Track 'You and I'
Late last week, Lady Gaga debuted a new song called "You and I" at Elton John's White Tie and Tiara Ball. A clip of the performance has quickly accumulated more than half a million views on YouTube.
Said Gaga, who later tweeted that she wrote the song in New York on the piano she grew up on: "It's a bit of a rock and roll tune, so that means it will most likely never get used as one of my singles, so I guess it's OK to play it tonight."Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

Amazing as usual. Love this girl.

This could have easily been something Elton and Bernie put out in the 70s. Sadly, no one is doing music like this anymore.
FUCKING BRILLIANT!

Ok, not a fan of Lady Gaga's music, but this just blew me away. I understand she needs to pop out those "current" tunes, but I hope she does more along these lines.

While I really like this song, it sounds like any other retro-rock song that kids write. No real innovation.

A little Elton, a little Janis and even a little Liza right at the very end! Way to go Gaga!

Perhaps...but it is a complete joy to find a 'pop singer' singing bare, without a thousand electronic machines perfecting her voice.
Raw, not so edgy, but comfortably rock!
Way to go, Gaga!

For me Gaga is not really about the music (even though I do love the music). It is about her lyrics and what she has to say. And I love the lyrics to this one. Mix that with her vocals and the emotional assault with that piano... oh my. She just keeps getting better and better.

Unattractive. This might be nice for musical nostalgics, but tooting around old riffs, melodies and rhythms just adds up to a girl playing "dress up" in her musical mommy's (Elton John's) clothes for me. Add to that the obvious limits of her voice in range and timbre and I'll pass thank you very much. You can jump on that piano all you want, Gaga, but you ain't foolin' me.

Say what you want about her: She is over the top, she is a copycat, she is an attention whore, she is unattractive; some of these things may even be true. But one thing you cannot hold against Lady Gaga is her voice. She is one of the few pop artists who can actually sing well. Her voice does sound like its suffering from a but of overuse in this video, but if you watch her other live performances as well as those from her brunette years you'll realize that she has a wide vocal range and she can hold a note better than any current pop stars out there. She never lipsyncs during those crazy stunts of hers for crying out loud! Only a few pop artists can sing live and sound as good on record. (I think she actually sounds better live)
