NOM Speaker: Outlawing Gay Marriage Will Help Save the Economy

Scott

Tamara Scott of the Concerned Women for America was one of the speakers at the NOM rally in Des Moines on Sunday. She claimed that outlawing gay marriage will improve the economy:

Said Scott: "This is not simply a party issue. It's a Biblical issue. Now I expect somebody like SNL will come along and make fun. We'll see the Church Lady revived. That's okay. I'd rather have man mad at me than be a stench in the nostrils of the God almighty."

She added: “It costs you, the taxpayer, as high as $280 billion a year for fragmented families, that's according to the Family Research Council, May 14, 2009. That's three trillion a decade...If we would correct the breakdown of the family by one percent, we could save the taxpayer $3 billion a year. To sit back and do nothing — we become part of the problem. We all need to help out here. It's too big for any of us. There's plenty of evil to go around."

Watch Scott spew her hate, AFTER THE JUMP...

  1. "according to the Family Research Council"

Yes, because the FRC is a legit source /sarcasm

I just love how the exact opposite is true (as seems to happen a lot to these guys' statements). We have seen time and time again that allowing gay marriage brings a small economic boom to the wedding related businesses, hotels, etc. It's also ridiculous to think that gay marriage leads to a mass breakup of families when families are actually coming together.

  2. RE: the Toyota reference, they didn't make it so you could never buy that car. They fixed the problem, not prevented you from buying or driving the car.

  3. Yawn, idjit thinks FRC is real science. BTW, no one is afraid of your tantrum throwing God.

  4. Stop blaming gays for straight people screwing up their own marriages. The divorce rate was already high way before gays had any legal rights anywhere in this country so that's a complete load of crap. Take care of your own marriages and stop blaming gay people for your own problems.

  5. She said it best - she is a total "stench in the nostrils of God Almighty". Enough said.

  6. Is the spaghetti sticking to the wall yet?

  7. Well, sweetie, all I can tell you is that evangelical Christians have the single highest divorce rate in the country. It's not Adam and Steve that's your problem. IT'S YOU.

Ban marriage between practicing Evangelicals and you'd fix quite a bit of the problem of failed marriages. States with the highest percentage of evangelicals - the South - have the highest divorce rates.

It really is all about you, not us.

  8. Well, she's a stench in our nostrils, so I suppose she's off to a good start. Who knew god even had a good sense of smell? I'd love for someone to ask her about what kind of world she is creating for her kids if one (or more) of them is gay? (She mentions her kids as her motivation for doing what she does, they are now fair game.)

  9. $280 billion a year for fragmented marriages?

Hey churchy lady... You've convinced me.

    Heterosexual marriage is BROKEN.

  10. Really? And how was it exactly The Gays threatened the "marriage" of Chelsea Clinton? The daughter of the President who signed DOMA into Federal Law?

It's a Huge Gay Conspiracy. The Gays have left a trail of destruction threatening and endangering heterosexual "marriage" and making the angels cry...

55 hours - Britney Spears and Jason Alexander
8 days - Dennis Hopper and Michelle Phillips
9 days - Cher and Gregg Allman
30 days - Drew Barrymore and Jeremy Thomas

3 months, 15 days - Lisa Marie Presley and Nicolas Cage

Hey NOM: SUCK MY BIG GLISTENING THROBBING GAY DICK!

  11. If fragmented families are the problem, and the burden for taxpayers, isn't that an argument for marrying gay couples and providing whole families? But she's so busy mixing metaphors (me thinks she has some food issues), she probably doesn't understand her own illogic.

If anything, straight families are costing gay, single, and childless taxpayers a fortune. All that hetero breeding and resulting education etc. don't come cheap! Since, in her mind, gay families don't exist, the cost of fragmented families is one created solely by straight people. We should be getting refunds! Smell that, Tammy.

  12. The Bible sez.
Yes... let's go back to the Bible days...
Of course, SHE would be stoned to death by speaking out...
    Hmmmmmm...

  13. why don't we just outlaw divorce? that would save us 99% of the $280 billion.

    Posted by: johnosahon | Aug 2, 2010 7:35:05 PM

  14. Her statistics make NO sense. Just like her brain.

    Posted by: crazywoman | Aug 2, 2010 7:36:39 PM

  15. Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie lasted 18 months? That's a miracle! I thought NOM didn't have any facts to argue their case.

    Posted by: Mike | Aug 2, 2010 7:55:12 PM

  16. The title should have read 'NOM calls for outlawing divorce'.

    Posted by: smallhandff | Aug 2, 2010 8:25:39 PM

  17. PLEASE, will SOMEBODY get these crazy people a BIGGER microphone and MORE air time!!!!!!!!

They will do more for the gay community in 30 minutes what HRC can't, or won't, do in 30 years!

  18. This woman is a stench. And a liar. And a utter raging fraud. Oh, and stupid.

Tamara, idiot at large, your numbers are utter bullshit. Complete and total bullshit. Gay marriage has been proven to a boost to the economy. According to the "Family Research Council..." REALLY? Really, I actually burst out laughing.

And lastly, idiot Tamara, do you really think God has nostrils? Really?

I pity you, woman. You're grossly stupid and embarrassing. And the hate in your heart is so apparent that you feel it ooze off you like slime.

  19. I'm not quite following her logic (or her metaphors for that matter). The statistics she quotes regarding "fragmented families" include children born out of wedlock. How does "protecting marriage" help them? Responsible sex education and access to birth control would go a lot further in cutting costs to taxpayers.

    Posted by: SammySeattle | Aug 2, 2010 9:01:52 PM

  20. @Bart-

Of course they believe God has nostrils. He's omniscient right? ;)

I'm sure they believe that when they die their eternal angelic souls will walk around heaven, complete with pekker's and vagoo's.

Not that they'll have any use for them in heaven... but it's so very important to make sure you can tell the mensouls apart, cause as most religions obviously believe, they're more important.

    Posted by: jexer | Aug 2, 2010 9:35:24 PM

  21. With religion, night is day, and day is night. There's no such thing as reality when your entire understanding of the world is predicated on fiction...even when (and hopefully this occurs)...she's selling pencils out of a paper cup in urine soaked sheets.

  22. Maybe she should redirect her attention to whatever it is that's screwing up het marriage so badly...instead of trying to "correct the breakdown of the family" that "costs you, the taxpayer, as high as $280 billion a year" - by working to prevent marriage equality. Her logic is straight from Toys R Us. Clean up your own house of cards, honey...

  23. Does she mean teenagers like Bristol.. hehe

  24. Holy fuck. I know this woman. I had no idea she was so full of hate. This just blew my mind. She seems like a perfectly good woman in every other way that I know her. I wish such competent people weren't so easily fucked up by Christianity and Right Wing propaganda. I think I might just need to send Tamara an e-mail.
