Watch: San Diego Goes Nuts for Marriage Equality Supporter Mayor Jerry Sanders

At San Diego's Day of Decision rally yesterday, the crowd went nuts for Republican Mayor Jerry Sanders, who testified for the plaintiffs in the Prop 8 trial and whose emotional and stunning reversal on marriage equality made him a hero to the LGBT community.

Watch Rex Wockner's video, AFTER THE JUMP...

Wockner has a few more videos from the San Diego rally here. Andrés Duque at Blabbeando has a report from the New York rally, as does JoeMyGod. Mark Hefflinger covers the L.A. rally. Someone got a gift on their anniversary. And here's a column from David Mixner.

  1. Im very heartened to know that the mayors of the three of largest cities in CA all have been so supportive of the LGBT movement. And the diversity of them has been staggering as well.
A Republican (Jerry Saunders of San Diego) has been a long time supporter.
A minority (First hispanic mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaragosa)has bee very outspoken on our rights, met him at LA Pride two years ago.
And of course Gavin Newsom (not so surprising, but everything Obama promised but hasnt been, mayor of San Francisco)
These three have help push these world cities towards the future, and they should be commended.

  2. This is why should we never give up on our enemies.

Mayor Sanders was an "enemy" at one time.
