'Gaydar Warrior Angels' Protest Pope's Visit to Twickenham, UK

Gaydar

Yesterday, the Pope paid a visit to St. Mary's University in Twickenham, UK, which happens to be the town where social networking site Gaydar is headquartered.

Greeting the pope in protest were three scantily clad "Gaydar Warrior Angels".

The Telegraph reports:

"Martin Beckford has filed this colour from Twickenham: 'A stream of guests arriving at St Mary's University College to see the Pope were surprised to find three half-naked homsexual men donning gold wings before launching their protest. The trio, who called themselves Gaydar's Warrior Angels, said they wanted the Church to be more accepting of homosexuality. On the narrow road outside the college stood about 20 protestors, most individuals rather than representing groups.'"

  1. Great costumes! Not sure how much it'll help, but those wings are fabulous.

  2. Take note, Papa Ratzi... you're not the only one that can dress up in silly costumes for attention!

    So there!

The boys have it right, 'protest' is so 'done' you've got to give the media a reason to keep their cameras on you!

  4. Now, *that* just might get me back in a church.... if they were on the altar...

  5. Nice publicity stunt, but why would anyone want to be part of this organization of child rapists and murderers?

  6. I bet they gave that dirty old Nazi an erection- assuming he can get it up for anyone above the age of three

  7. Petes, were you talking about gaydar or the catholic church?

    Posted by: Ryan | Sep 17, 2010 10:04:41 AM

  8. Oh my! They sure are pretty. "Non Angli, sed Angeli" is what St. Gregory the Great said about the English (not Angles, but Angels)when he saw Anglo Saxon boys brought to Rome. He sure was right!

I can't help but think that these lovelies seem a little out of place, though. They're not really making a serious statement for being treated as part of the RC church, but, rather, appear to provide ammunition for folks that say the gay community isn't mainstream or is over-the-top.

  9. from the BBC www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-11061296

Eight-year-old Kathryn was cleaning the windows of her family's shop when the first bomb went off. She died instantly.

Her mother, Merle, saw a bomber [Fr James Chesney, a Catholic priest]leave what would be the second bomb beside their shop, not knowing what horror it would bring to her family.

"When he stepped out of that car, he saw Kathryn standing at that window," she said.

"He should have shouted at her. But he didn't, he just walked away."

  12. Holy bulging codpieces Batman, I think I've died and gone to homoheaven! Ever since I was a wee little boy, long before I had a clue what being "gay" was, I've had a major THING for hot, half nude, muscly male angels. I actually collect artwork of male angels which, unfortunately, is very hard to find in spite of the huge number of biblical literalists in this country. I find it strange that you can go to a SOUTHERN BAPTIST bookstore, where they believe that the Bible is the LITERAL and inerrant word of God but you can't find a SINGLE male angel among their scores of angels, in spite of the fact that the Bible, never, not once, speaks of an angel in female form.

Anyway, off the soap box and back to checking out the hotness with wings. I ain't seen wings that purdy since my last bucket of Kentucky Fried chicken! And I've been a vegetarian for five years, so I was due this guilty pleasure!

  13. those wings are gorgeous

  14. HOT!!
Cher will be wanting those wings back though.

  15. I'm rather conflicted on this. The boys *do* look rather remarkable (especially the blond! Yum!) and those wings are positively glorious (I wonder what they are made of? The coloring is really impressive...)...

Yet I am still wondering whether their costume-choice dilutes the point of this particular 'protest', though - they're in the middle of an official visit of a foreign dignitary and Head of State, yet this is what they choose to wear...?!

  16. @Terrance, Maybe you don't understand the difference between a welcome and a protest.

In the former, one dresses to IMPRESS; in the latter, one dresses to DISTRESS. I think hot gay men posing as angels from heaven is a very effective way to distress a virulently homophobic closeted gay pope. At least one of the hotties should have dressed as Jebus as icing on the cake.

When you're paying half the bill for this ass clown to invade your country, as these men are doing as Britons, you have every right to meet him however, and wearing WHATEVER, you want. I think the choice of protesting in hot Angel porn regalia was priceless!

  17. I find it disturbing when angels are hexapods. Like centaurs, it doesn't look right.

  18. Somebody must have been watching "Barbarella"...

    Posted by: jaragon | Sep 17, 2010 5:59:55 PM

  19. Since wings wouldn't be considered "feet" or "legs", these angels wouldn't be considered hexapods just as winged insects aren't considered octapods or decapods.

You do know that angels and centaurs are imaginary creatures, right? It's kind of like being bothered by a cyclops having the wrong color eye or the spiral of a unicorn's horn twisting the wrong way.

  20. Tampazeke...

    I have one.

It's packed from a move so not sure who made it [thought it might be a Hallmark collection series... but haven't found a pic of it yet]. But your right, I've never found another male but that one. What's nice is that it's not all 'traditional-like'.

He's buffed, with no shirt... I don't know what they call the type of trousers he's wearing, but they're the type that gather at the ankle and are otherwise punjabi- like. Low on the hips. Very sexy looking. And even more rare, is that he is a brown-skinned male... not white like most angels are represented as [besides female].

  21. Stupid, stupid, stupid! If we don't take genocidal speech seriously (and that, without a doubt, is what Joseph Ratzinger spouts, every time he gets a chance), who else will? Appearances by vicious hatemongers are not invitations to play circuit-party dress-up!!! That is not a valid protest action, not by a longshot! People should've been doing die-ins instead, slamming home the point that LGBT people lose their lives as a result of Catholic Church bigotry.

  22. Awww, they're so adorable.

At this point in time however, the only thing I think would change the catholic church's policy on gays would be for them to suffer massive money loss.

    Posted by: El-Brucio | Sep 18, 2010 5:58:09 PM

  23. "Massive money loss" is, thank God, helping to kill the old-boy network that transferred rather than removing pedophile priests--that, and the understanding that you can't cure pedophilia. (There WERE bishops who really believed they could safely put them back into service after counseling. As well as some who put the corporation ahead of the customers.)

But I cannot look at paragraph 2358 of the Cathechism of the Catholic Church and either call it "hate speech", "genocidal", etc., OR believe that the Church is going to change an established doctrine from financial motives:
"The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition."
