For all that can be said about the Schwarz… at least he can maintain a sense of humor. I really appreciated the tongue-in-cheek nature of this tweet. Made me smile during a rough day at work. :)

    HELL NO!

His father was a member of the austrian Nazi party, volunteered for the SA, and became a ranking officer

Arnold himself supported Kurt Waldheim, who participated in Nazi atrocities during World War II. Schwarzenegger’s name remained on Waldheim’s campaign posters, even after allegations of Waldheim’s war crimes were brought to light. Waldheim was even invited to Arnold’s wedding.

I know someone who met Schwarzenegger right at the time he became famous with terminator. He was interviewing him for a student newspaper and almost nobody else showed, maybe 3 other people. Schwarzenegger was cool as shit, spent a lot of time with the couple who did show up, wasn’t angry or nasty, and insisted afterwards in going out for a few drinks at a local dive with everyone.

Whether or not people think the constitution should be amended so Arnold can run is kind of moot. It should be changed because it’s discriminatory. If someone’s lived in this country almost their entire life, but they were born outside it, why the heck shouldn’t they be allowed to run for President? This policy robs us of a lot of good candidates for office, IMO.

As much as Arnold isn’t my cup of tea… it’d be sure nice to have his influence on the national Republican party by being able to wage that real battle of ideas — what other ‘moderate’ Republican is there out there, save for Arnold, who could even have a shot of waging that primary battle and changing Republican hearts and minds? None.

He flies everywhere on his own dime. Also doesn’t take a salary or public housing. Stages many of his public appearances on his own dime. So no, he’s not ripping off CA. Certainly preferably to Meg Whitman!

Interesting contrast between Arnold’s good-natured teasing (hardly mocking) and Palin’s rather mean-spirited comeback. Hardly shocking that egocentric hack can’t take a joke.

Re: his governorship. Without endorsing or condemning his record, California’s fiscal time bomb has been decades in the making, is rooted in systemic problems, and can only be fixed, if at all, by structural changes. No single governor could have prevented and no single governor can fix it.

“Yesterday, Californian Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was taking a nice, relaxing flight across Alaska– probably off to fight someone in a jungle somewhere. At any rate, he Tweeted the above, uh, Tweet while passing over Sarah Palin’s neck of the woods, and then followed it up with the photo below. While Schwarzenegger’s a part of the Republican party, apparently he’s not feeling the whole “”Palin 2012″” thing. And this, my friends, is why we’re fans of the Governator here at Comedy Examiner HQ…despite his party of choice. Keep up the mockery, Ah-nold: it’ll distract people from all those budget cuts you made to the public school system.
