So only 12 out of 2500 reported hatecrimes have been prosecuted as hatecrimes in Texas. That’s 0.5%.

And unfortunately the police are correct. Unless the Klansmen are apprehended in the middle of the assault there’s little that can be done.

Gay people ALL need to take self defence lessons and carry a substance like pepper spray with us at all times.

Anti-Gay Vipers and the Outsider Archetype

People who identify with the LGBT community live in the shadow of the outsider archetype, whether they are or not aware of it. Even in communities where their survival is not immediately threatened from the outside.

However, the possibility of a life-threatening change remains ever-present. The treacherous activities of the religious right. Political censors. Gay basher who are penetrating the heart of metropolitan gay communities. Medical professions, which continue to foist drugs known to be toxic such as AZT and DDI to HIV positive people. Cure-happy psychologist.

All of these figures confirm the need to be wary of anti-gay vipers and their numerous forms. Such narcissism only draws out the worst in people.

It’s easy to place blame on the police, but when none of the twenty witnesses were willing to co-operate, what can you expect the police to do? Wave a magic wand and make witnesses appear from thin air? Even the victim in this crime says that when he shouted out the license plate number, no one wrote it down.

It’s sad that non one in this modern technological age was able to get a picture, film, license plate or some shred of evidence. It’s a shame no one was willing to jump in and help. It’s a shame that the bouncers didn’t get involved.

There’s a whole lot of blame to go around but of course, ultimately everyone wants to blame the police for the lack of cooperation from the gay guys who stood, watched, and did nothing.

Police (dis)interest is heavily influenced by the District Attorney’s attitude and involvement in a case. The Travis County (Austin) DA, Rosemary Lehmberg, is a lesbian, so let’s just see what happens.

Sure…..gay bashings and other ‘hate’ crimes never occur in NYC, Portland, L.A., Vancouver.

Why all the hate on Austin? Give me a break. Many alleged or real ‘Hate’ crimes are in fact, legally, very difficult to prosecute. And finding those dudes who beat these two guys up is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Do people reading this realize most crimes, including assaults, go unsolved and un-prosecuted, even a large minority of homicides? The Austin cops weren’t lying.
